  Nice relaxing hotel.

  So we arrived as a family of 6 with 3 generations. Arrived at the hotel and was booked in and taken to our rooms promptly. Rooms are basic but had everything we need. The beds were firm and I found them so comfortable.They were cleaned daily and topped up daily if you wanted.Meals.Like all All inclusive hotels the food can get repeative but there is always something to eat and some beautifully presented garnishing. If you want pizza, full English breakfast you will be disappointed but if you like salad, fruit,breads, meat dishes this is what you get at most meals. You do have a snack bar which has spaghetti pasta, chips, burgers, chicken nuggets and onion rings which is stone cold. The food at meal times can get cold but this is not due to the hotel but mostly because guests dont close the food trays.DrinksNot for me, personal taste and you might like it. I had to go and buy my own vodka. Not sure if it was due to near the end of season but it was only Vodka Gin and beer available along with soft drinks. There are coffee and tea machines in all bar areas where you can help yourself, the tea and coffee was not for me either but my dad enjoyed the tea and my kids like the hot chocolate.StaffVery hard working but mostly non English speaking but if needed we used Google translate which was vital but we didnt need to use it much.We did witness a fight between two bar ladies which I reported to reception as a guest also tried to stop it but was hurt in the process. This was taken care of swiftly and quietly. My only issue I had with staff was when I was at the bar getting some drinks the bar man asked if I was Polish,I said no im English and he screwed his face up, mumbled something whist rolling his eyes then slammed my drinks down. I though that was rude but otherwise the staff are very caring and hard working. The man on reception during the night/early mornings used to bring me and my mum a bottled water which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated.Entertainment.We came two weeks before the end of season so this could be the reason for the lack of entertainment. It was advertised that activities such as water aerobics and darts throughout the day. The only day time activity we say was water polo at 3pm in the afternoon, we couldnt partake due to the language barrier but it was fun to watch.The evening entertainment for us was boring or non existent. They advertised live music and put some music on the speakers but they did have a band come and play which was pleasant but nothing an English person would recognise. We stopped going to the entertainment because we couldn't understand what was happening due to a language barrier but the other guests seemed to enjoy it. We entertained ourselves with card games and quizzes.Surrounding areas Not much about. There is a marina that is roughly a 25 mins walk, that has bars and expensive shops but its not big. You can get the dolmus but that stops right outside to yalikavak/marina and that costs 42lira one way I think.If you want to go to Bodrum or other places you need to get the dolmus to yalikavak then another bus to your destination. We went to Bodrum and the bus was packed and had to stand for nearly 1 hour all cramped up so decided to get on uber to Bodrum the next day which cost us roughly £22 to get there.On our last day there was a market in turgutreis, the market itself was horrible woth pushy seller but if you go to the shops along the seafront you will get a much better price for items and you dont get the hard sell.All in all it was a good relaxing holiday and the staff worked extremely hard to made the hotel run so smoothly.   If you are looking for a traditional British all inclusive give this one a miss. Entertainments are poor.

  The hotel itself is nice, however there is little English spoken and that can impact on your enjoyment. We booked this via On The Beach and were expecting a hotel geared towards British tourists, this is not really the case with front desk staff having little to no English and the food being more for the Turkish market.The rooms were clean if quite run down. We had broken curtains and the flexible shower fitting was broken. We needed 4 beds in a room, 3 were fine but the 4th was an uncomfortable fold out bed. The air con in the rooms was good and made the climate comfortable. The staff were generally friendly but had very little English. We didn't have any particular issues but it would have been difficult to get anything resolved if there was a problem or a complex requirement.There was plenty of food at meal times but it was geared towards the Turkish/European market. Service was slow where food had to be cooked and staff didn't really clear the tables after use.The pools were all clean and great to use, the hotel is also on the beach with great access to the sea.The entertainment was poor and I feel they shouldn't have advertised that they did this. Shows were very short and all ended by 21:30, some nights there was nothing but it was not clear when anything was on. Bar service was slow and it seemed that the Turkish visitors were priorised for service. My wife had trouble on frequent occasions even being acknowledged by bar staff.   Great experience! We spent one week in Golden Age hotel with our Family (aged 8 - 76). All of us regardless the age enjoyed the stay. Beautiful location, variety of facilities, delicious food including traditional turkish meals. Very friendly and helpfull Staff and Animation Team (thank you Emir - you are a good spirit of the place). It all made our stay a memorable one!Our rooms vere spacoius and well equipped. The cleaning Lady made them look beautiful every day. What is important - the music level was just right.   This hotel is an absolute joke , we had some issues with our rooms so asked if they could move us , we had good reason , we had a disabled person and was put on a 2nd floor with no lift also had to walk down about 30 steps to get to the room then up steps. they tried saying that Ipek had found us alternative rooms but this is a big LIE , she never helped us at all so we decided to move hotels .The food was awful , not much choice and was only warm , the rooms ...nearly have a bath in the shower where water didnt drain, a/c not working in one room and toilet not flushing , tap held together by tape, had to bang the door hard to get in the room .They do not cater for English and no one apart from Ipek spoke any English, had to use Google translate with everyone else , the staff were rude and we felt uncomfortable being there , Golden Age Otel, Müsteri Hizmetleri / Ön Büro at Golden Age Bodrum Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback.We have noticed that the same claims have been posted multiple times from different accounts, with repeated references to the name of one of our staff member from guest relations .
