Could, and should, be so much better

    rating07 Oct 2026

This hotel has all the making of a great place to stay but it misses the mark so many times, I would find a diffferent place to stay in Naxos, if I was going today. We stayed for 9 nights in September. The pool, lobby and grounds are all immaculate. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the rooms. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. (See pictures of how the bed was made with sheets that do not fit, blood stain on sheets our first night - it was under the pillow, the dirt that came off my feet walking on the freshly "cleaned" floors, and dirty plates/cups left in the room every single day.) All of the above were mentioned, numerous times, to the staff and nothing happened until finally, on the third day, the housekeeping staff came in to make the bed, supervised, and did it wrong...four times! She finally got it right and the sheets fit the mattress instead of just being laid loose on top so we were in a tangled mess by morning. But the used plates and glasses were never removed and replaced. Not once. Each night we took them down to the front desk ourselves and brought up new ones. We also noticed that not one surface in the room was wiped down. Toothpaste on the counter in the bathroom stayed there, crumbs on the table stayed there. We mentioned this and were told that they don't want to touch our stuff. In all my years of travel and hotels, I've never heard that one! So the room was basically not cleaned in 9 days beyond the bed being improperly made and the floor being swished with dirty water. The internet...it doesn't exist there. If you can manage to connect, it drops every minute or so. We asked about it at the front desk, twice, and were told both times that there are too many people trying to connect. They know it's a problem. They are sorry. So, if you need a reliable internet connection, this hotel is not for you. We never managed to stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time. Now for the good things...and there are some. The rooms are very comfortable - beds are good. Lots of storage and all the bells and whistles like slippers and robes. The shower is very strong and the towels are of good quality. A special shout out to Alex at the front desk. Alex really tried and his lovely personality and sense of humour made the not so great stuff fade a bit. The location is OK depending on what you are looking for. It's about a 10-15 min walk to the beach, a bit longer to town. Right across the street is a very big grocery store but there isn't much else in the immediate vicinity. If you are planning on relaxing by the pool (which is huge and really nice with lots of loungers and umbrellas), the location would be fine. If you want to be very close to restaurants and shops, it's a bit of a walk. The breakfast is pretty good but repetitive. It gets a bit boring after a few days but that would probably be true of most places. They could do a better job of replacing the hot food which seems to stay empty. Once it's gone...it's gone. In short...I would not stay there again. A lot of our stay was dealing with frustrations that should be table stakes for a hotel - linen that fits the bed, clean rooms, etc. and this place missed the mark on those pretty consistently.

Beautiful hotel in great location. Nice uncrowded pool. Great Breakfast. You can walk to town where the shops and restaurants are. Friendly staff.

    Great hotel in Chora, Naxos

    rating27 Jun 2026

We wanted a comfortable hotel with a pool, near the beach and not far from Chora and Porto Naxos ticked all the boxes. The garden view room was very comfortable and met all expectations from the website.A special mention to Alex on reception who made sure that our holiday went to plan and all of the other staff who were excellent in every respect. A big thank you to Viktor who looked after the pool area and made sure that drinks and snacks were easily available. The hotel is a short walk to the beach and the town with a bus stop directly outside and a great supermarket across the road.

    Wonderful staff but lacking facilities

    rating29 May 2026

The Porto Naxos Hotel was very nice and staff were super friendly, helpful and lovely. Big shout out to Kelly, Kostas, Alex and lovely pool man Viktor ( sadly the older male manager we saw walking around looked like he would rather be anywhere else but there!). The breakfasts were excellent but I would say that overall it wasn’t strictly a 4 star. Rooms and overall decor and design of the accommodation were of a good standard and aesthetically lovely but my ‘ garden room’ balcony actually looked out onto a parking lot and I had to request a change of shower head as the one I had initially was just a hand held unit that gave hardly any water coverage. In addition the shower was over a very narrow bath with a simple curtain that kept sticking so not the most comfortable experience for me. But the staff did try to accommodate by changing the shower head to a better one and the water pressure was good in the end. There was an option to be upgraded to a room with a balcony that looked out onto the pool for an extra €25 per night. Also the Olive and Thyme restaurant that is quoted on the website wasn’t in fact open for anything other than breakfast when we were there. There was no means of getting a coffee or a drink in the actual hotel after breakfast unless you went to the pool bar which shut at 8pm. This was a shame in our view as the hotel lounge area was absolutely lovely and it would have been nice to finish off our evening with a drink or a coffee when we got in. Overall a lovely hotel with excellent staff but lacking facilities you would expect of a 4 star hotel.

    Not a 4 Star Hotel

    rating14 Oct 2025

We stayed here for three nights in a Garden Room. This is not a 4-star hotel. It is in need of a renovation and upgrade. Our Garden Room, actually looked out onto a dirt lot with abandoned vehicles. The bathroom had a tub, with no grab bars, which made it difficult getting in and out. The reception staff were not that helpful, unlike our experience elsewhere in Greece. The location of the hotel was about 20-25 minutes walking to old town and the city center-the biggest problem was the vehicle traffic on some of the roads, due to a lack of sidewalks. The breakfasts were good, and the breakfast staff very nice.
