Didn't live up to my expectations of a 'Cave' hotel

    rating16 Oct 2018

The location and aspect of this hotel is charming. Rooms on multiple levels, quirky steps and ample sitting areas and a lovely outlook. My twin room (14 I think) was a good size however the configuration was limited due to a giant pillar in the middle of the room. This proved challenging when getting out of bed and the bruises on my leg will attest to this. The lighting was dreadful. Almost no natural light and just one very lonely and dim bulb on a bedside lamp. The one power point was not secured very well but worked OK. The room is not soundproofed and footsteps and clattering can be heard in the restaurant directly above. Not very 'cavelike' she says wryly. The bed was firm but comfortable, however the pillows were terrible. Bathroom was a little brighter being newly tiled in light coloured sandstone. The toilet however was not bolted to the floor and the shower was of the hand held variety. There is no shower screen and the water flows across the floor rather than into the drain.Wifi only randomly works in the room in the very early morning but not very well. The natural rock floor is dusty but rugs help to some degree. The over bed canopy adds an air of romance but is really only there to catch the dust which I found is plentiful and constant.Breakfast was quite good with fresh warm bread each morning and a fair choice of cold items. Dinner was very good with one of the best soups I've ever had. (No, not lentil)This hotel has so much potential but seems to have been done on the cheap. There are much nicer 'Cave' hotels in the area.

Chez Nazim is a peaceful retreat from the world. Sitting on the edge of a valley filled with ancient dovecotes, you wake to birdsong. Nazim's hospitality is without bounds and the food is delicious! Very homelike atmosphere mingling with family and other guests.

Very warm family atmosphere with and helpful owner

We really enjoyed our stay at this charming family-run pension . It is a stopover for hikers in the area and the busiest pension we stayed in. A nice change from being the only guests! There are over 10 rooms all looking out over a ravine to the old cave dwellings opposite.  We had a room with a balcony, which was bright, clean and with a spotless ensuite bathroom.  Meals are taken either on the terrace or inside and are good basic Turkish fare, no choice, but a change of menu every day. There are wines, a little pricey, to choose from. The main asset of the pension is Nazim himself, who is determined to make you comfortable and at home, speaks good English and is very helpful. We had pre-booked a rental car but the rental company was quite hard to track down. Nazim insisted on helping us solve the problem which involved visiting most of the local rental companies and finally going to the local airport to collect the car.  "I will be your taxi" Nazim insisted, so at a very reasonable rate, with free translation thrown in, a problem that was was making us quite anxious was happily resolved.  So it has to be five stars all round for Chez Nazim! Great views, wonderful host (and the food was amazing too)

My group stopped here for lunch on the terrace (with amazing views) and a great hike down into the valley. Our host Mr. Nazim, was wonderful. He had studied (and worked) in France, and the wonderful food, while entirely Turkish, reflected that. Would have loved to have stayed there, but the hotel was fully booked.

    Great location, food, and room.

The location of these cave rooms is amazing, down the wall of a canyon. You can go for a walk in the canyon from the bottom of the hotel or a quick walk into town from the top. The meals made by the owners and served on their patio were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
