  Be careful with this hotel, is terrible!

  We chose this hotel because of its good reviews and rating, and because of the high price (almost €300 per night), which made us expect a certain standard. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.The room was in poor condition. The ceiling was deteriorating and small rocks were constantly falling onto the floor. Because of this, the floor was always dirty. Housekeeping was not done daily, and we had to repeatedly ask for cleaning. There was also a very strong and unpleasant smell of cat urine in the room, which was reported but never properly addressed.The general maintenance and cleanliness of the hotel do not match the price being charged.Additionally, the receptionist was often unfriendly and acted more like a tour salesman than hotel staff. We were sold excursions directly at the hotel that were not what was promised. In particular, we were sold a “hot air balloon flight over Cappadocia.” In reality, the flight took place about 1.5 hours away, over a snowy area where nothing of Cappadocia could be seen. When we raised the issue, the hotel staff refused to take responsibility.This was especially disappointing because the main reason for visiting Cappadocia is precisely to experience the iconic balloon views, and this was misrepresented to us.I am writing this review to warn other travelers to be cautious and to encourage the hotel to improve its standards, maintenance, cleanliness, and transparency. At its current price point, the experience does not meet reasonable expectations.

  Great, But Improvements Needed for the Family Room

  Overall, great stay and great staff. A few minor improvements could make our stay a bit better. We stayed in the family room, which featured a queen bed and four bunk beds, which could fit 10 people in total. We were a family of six. I think the family room is a great deal, if your party is large and you are looking to save. It is not as fancy as the other rooms listed. I think I am OK with that. However, a few basics were missing, such as night stand (it was difficult to keep small items such as glasses or phones without night stand, at least for the queen bed), no toilet paper holder (toilet paper was kept over the counter), no towel holder to conveniently keep the towel in the bathroom to use after washing your hands, no coffee maker or kettle (other rooms have those). The bathroom was also a bit small. The room is situated in a long cave, which makes it a bit humid. I could still live with all these given what I needed and how much I was willing to pay. But, some small improvements will greatly improve the next guest’s experience. Breakfast and views from terrace were great. The staff is very friendly.   The number 1 choice in Uchisar

  The Takaev Cave House is located in the older part of Uchisar, directly under the spectacular castle. Having seen both Uchisar and Goreme, I would strongly recommend Uchisar - Goreme is much more touristy (and frankly more tacky) than Uchisar was has largely retained much of its originality, especially near the hotel.Parking is available on the (allegedly one-way!) street if you are arriving by car, usually within a very short walk of the hotel. Access to the hotel and to all the rooms is down some fairly steep steps. The staff are undoubtedly the highlight of the hotel, particularly Aziz ad Darin - they were helpful, attentive and provided an excellent experience and their English is great. They booked a balloon trip for us with pick up from the hotel (at 4.05am!) and the arrangements were perfect. The room was lovely, with a window opening out onto the valley so that you could watch the balloons at sunrise (having been woken by the call to prayer from a very adjacent mosque!). Some rooms do not have a view to the back of the hotel and we would strongly recommend that you choose one which does. The bathroom was well equipped and functioning, although the shower could have done with some restoration to sort a very leaky shower head and a broken bracket. The bed was large and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent (although much the same every day) and it was a real treat to sit on the balcony in the sun every morning. We greatly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend the hotel.   Charming hotel with lovely staff

  The Takaev Cave Hotel is charming and Aziz and the staff were lovely and very helpful. We loved walking the small streets of Uchisar as well as exploring the area further afield. It is a definite “don’t miss” place to visit and I would absolutely recommend the Takaev Cave hotel.
