  Very central location with good transport access. The area compares to Leicester Square/Picadilly Circus in central London. So it’s a busy shopping area and not pretty or picturesque. The hostel is basic. Small rooms with small en-suite but it was clean and functional.

  I had a very disappointing experience at this hostal. I called a week in advance to change my reservation from 3 nights to 2, and was told it was taken care of. However, when I arrived, they still charged me for all 3 nights. When I tried to explain the situation, the staff was incredibly rude—talking over me, dismissive, and not at all helpful. Their attitude was so unwelcoming that we decided to book a different place for the end of our trip just to avoid coming back. I would not stay here again.

  We called ahead to cancel one night—it was confirmed over the phone that it would be “no problem.” When we arrived, the receptionist claimed we needed to reconfirm via email, something no one had mentioned to us. Because that wasn’t written down, they insisted we had to pay for the night. Despite showing the phone call record from that date and the confirmation email they themselves had sent, the staff refused to acknowledge any responsibility.The receptionist was not only dismissive but downright rude—constantly interrupting us whenever we tried to explain the misunderstanding. She spoke over us and refused to take accountability for their own lapse in communication and professionalism.This experience felt like a blatant scam: they confirmed our cancellation, then charged us anyway without any policy warning, proof, or written record. The attitude was unhelpful and deflective. I cannot recommend a place that refuses to honor its own agreements and mishandles customer communication so irresponsibly.

  Great location - nice, clean and quiet.

  Great location very close to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Major and also close to metro, shops and restaurants. No breakfast, but plenty of options for breakfast at cafes close by. Nice and quiet and clean. Very nice newly renovated bathroom. Good wi-fi. Helpful staff when arriving late at night.

  Can’t fault location. Room was way smaller than depicted in photos but bed was comfortable. Bathroom amenities consisted of only a soap dispenser . Rooms accessible by elevator was great, We were able to walk everywhere except to and from bus or train station because of luggage. Got help to get a ticket for the metro on a day when walking was going to be a challenge from another tourist . Lots of food options in the area with a great little variety store on the corner. In addition to that there were 2 mini marts across the road. Staff did not seem friendly at all but to their credit any request via whats app was attended to. For eg request for an iron and extra pillows. Perhaps it was a language issue but a smile would not hurt. Thought the pricing was a little expensive for what you get compared to other cities but then again its Madrid and for the area you can’t go wrong
