    A personal bond with The Bon!

    The Bon was recommended by a colleague at our Rotary Peace Convention that was being held in Istanbul. I had stayed at the convention's designated hotel, the Hilton Bomonti, but was looking for something after the convention was over; something in Old Town that would be close to the mosques, museums and bazaars. Hoping it would be less expensive too. The Bon was the perfect fit. The staff was so accommodating and friendly! My room was on the fourth floor, with a balcony view of Hagia Sophia Mosque about two blocks away!The hotel does need some updates and I was a little apprehensive at first, but the room was clean, quiet, with great views, free homemade breakfast each morning (with fudge as one of the offerings!) and a resident cat. The bed was an extremely comfortable queen bed. The room's temperature stayed at a perfect level with the in-room climate control. It had a fun spiral staircase and a tiny elevator, which worked very efficiently. And a big thing for me, as an older woman traveling by myself, was how safe I felt in this hotel. The front desk was open 24 hours, allowing wake up calls, scheduling a taxi, and availability to ask questions about tourist attractions, directions and recommendations for eateries and Turkish baths. They even heated up my leftovers from a restaurant dinner on the stovetop one night! I have a real affection for this tiny boutique hotel and plan on staying there again whenever I return to Istanbul!

    The hotel was very good in terms of location, really friendly and helpful staff members and getting to the main attractions. It is a budget friendly hotel but would recommend update is needed in the rooms and the breakfast is fairly simple and the same everyday. Overall experience was good!

    Not what we expected

    My husband and I came to Istanbul for vacation and had a wonderful trip, except sleep was hard to get. The Bon Design Hotel will get you close to sights but if rest is on the agenda look elsewhere. The rooms are affordable and fairly clean. They could use some updates. The bedding is too small and will not cover two normal sized human adults. My husband and I are very fit people, and large at all. In addition it was super loud late into the night, with of construction noise. Jack hammering, cranes, drilling and demolition work. One night at 11:30 pm, I asked the front desk if it was going to stop and was pretty much ignored. My husband had to go down to speak with them. Last night the staff were running up and down the stairs. This caused the motion light to come on and off. The door doesn't sit in the jam correctly so the beam comes straight into your face! As they ran up and down the stairs they would slam doors, and I guess move furniture? Around midnight I asked if they were ever going to stop? I was just laughed at. So not the best choice for us. I guess they forgot who pays the bill because they don't seem to care if the customers enjoy their stay. We won't return

    Booked the economy room for few hours before our red eye flight. Our current hotel was sold out and Bon Design is the nearest and cheapest. Staff was nice enough to informed that the room is at basement since its the cheapest room. The basement has a moist damp stinky smell, the room is decent with a small window. Toilet has the same damp smell and I'm glad we only used it for few hours. Good location and staff service but this place needs a renovation. I didn't even want to take photos of it.

    I spend two nights at the hotel it was nice and clean hotel. The hotel is closely to haga Sophia and it’s also near the tramway and many restaurants/ shops breakfast was good and nice people.Thank you very much for your great service.
