  Nicely located, bang-for-your-buck Wes Anderson hotel

  I stayed at Edibe Sultan Hotel for one week in January 2026. Prior to this, I had spent a couple of nights at a 5-star hotel, so I had something to compare it with. This is of course something different, but not in a bad way. This hotel gives a strong sense of familiarity — you quickly recognize the staff, and they genuinely try their best to make your stay pleasant. It is far from posh, but what it lacks in modernity, it more than makes up for in other ways. I got a really good deal on my week stay, with breakfast included. The interior leans heavily into turned wood details throughout the hotel. While it’s not really my personal style (currently!), it really adds character and I found it charming - it adds to the hotel’s slight... Wes Anderson-like feel.The location is excellent, just a short walk from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. The staff are friendly and relaxed, almost like a family. Whatever I needed from reception, I got immediately. The room was cleaned regularly and felt tidy where it mattered most, even if some less noticeable spots had clearly not been deep-cleaned in a while. The daily housekeeping was good, and the staff were attentive and alert throughout my stay. Nothing fancy — just things working exactly as they should, which honestly goes a long way.One thing I appreciated was their simple room service setup that lets you order food and other items from external vendors via a QR code. Since Uber Eats didn’t work for me in Turkey, this turned out to be a genuinely convenient and affordable solution for late night snacking.Upon arrival, I was given a short walk-through of nearby sights along with a map marked by the concierge. Not a big deal in itself, but it reinforced the feeling that they actually care about you having a good stay. The breakfast buffet was better than I expected, even though I’m usually not a fan of the typical breakfast options you find at Turkish hotels (coming from Northern Europe).Istanbul should be experienced outside the hotel room, and if you’d rather spend your money on food and sights than luxury accommodation, this is a great choice. You very much get what you pay for — and on those terms, my stay honestly felt five-star.In summary: If you’re looking for good value at a quiet, possibly family-owned hotel right next to some of Istanbul’s best sights, I can definitely recommend this place.

  We recently stayed at Edibe Sultan Hotel in Sultanahmet, Istanbul, and had a wonderful experience. The location is fantastic — right in the heart of the historic district, within walking distance of major attractions like the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar. It’s also conveniently close to public transportation, making it easy to explore the city. The hotel was very polite and welcoming. The train station is only 10 mins walking distance. We highly recommend Edibe Sultan Hotel.

  A little disappointing

  We stayed at Edibe Sultan Hotel at the recommendation of a guide and after reading some divided reviews. Positive aspects: excellent location for visiting around; delicious breakfast; surprisingly quiet at night; clean and cozy. Negative points: telephone not working so we had to keep in touch with reception face to face (we stayed at 5th floor); a few appliances not working (but thankfully they were fixed at request); we were allocated a room inferior to what we booked and paid but it was upgraded the next day, however the photos are kind of misleading, therefore in my opinion it's more expensive than it should be (bear in mind I have visited Istanbul quite a lot and I never stayed in the same hotel twice); the staff is friendly but they could do with more communication skills (especially handing over information to each other when changing the shifts).

  Myself and a friend stayed here for our 10 day stint in Istanbul. The hotel promotes itself as 3 Star and that seems about right.The rooms are quite small, we got a twin and had no where to put our suitcases. The location is fantastic and tucked away from main roads so it’s very quiet.The staff were friendly and helpful.The breakfast was decent enough, it’d be great if they had a toaster.

  The hotel is strategically located. Most of the attractions were at walking distance. The staff was really friendly and very kind. We even requested for a doctor's service and the staff who was on shift helped us. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one.
