  Nice Idea but Odor Problem in Bathrooms

  This hotel is misnamed on Trip Advisor. It's now called Festinn Suites Hotel. It's located in the off-the-tourist track Golden Horn, in my view one of the most interesting parts of Istanbul. It is very hard to find. Taxis don't know it (and the rip-off artists will take advantage of that). You can get to the hotel from Attaturk Airport by taking the metro and then the metrobus to the Haljoli (sp?) station. From there take a cab to the hotel. But few drivers will speak much English so have the help desk at the airport write out the name of the hotel and the address in Turkish. A landmark most know is the Miniaturk and it is a few blocks north of there on the west side of the road. (It's also close to the Hilton Garden Inn but that is up a hill from the main road.) You can also take the 401ST bus from that metro station but it is hard to find the right direction and place for the buses. You need a bus/metro pass to which you can add money; buy it at the airport station. It works on the metro and the major bus lines. THE GOOD: the suites include 2 rooms with a small kitchenette and living area and a separate generous sized bedroom. The views from the window of the Golden Horn across the street are splendid and the breakfast is decent (but tiresome after a couple of days.) The staff are very helpful in intent if not always knowledgeable. There are many small restaurants and few larger ones nearby. The smallest ones won't speak English or take credit cards. There is a small swimming pool in the basement and a nice turkish bath and sauna. THE BAD: The raod noise is loud from all rooms (they claim "soundproofed rooms"; they are not. Also, the bathrooms are linked to a central air shaft and are malodorous. (I looked at 3 rooms and they all had this problem.) There was mold on the sink and floor grouting of the bathroom. The smell does not go away even by closing the bathroom door and opening the outside windows (hard to do when it's cold). The cleaning staff are not adequately trained or rigorous in their cleaning and the products they use do not adequately kill the mold in the bathrooms.I cannot recommend this hotel until it fixes the problem and clean up the mold; this is unsafe in my opinion. The exchange rates are terrible--use an ATM--and some of the staff are more pleasant than knowledgeable.

  If you stay here to participate in an event at Halic Conference Center this is a very good place - so close to the conference center (7-8 minutes by foot). Nice little hotel, WiFi is not working as good as wished all time and at all places. I t can require help to have the AC work - but it works.Breakfast is OK - you will have hot milk for your muesli - but they have cold milk in the kitchen so ask for it!

  The Wi-Fi sucks, in spite of several requests there was no action. The breakfast is also not too great.The staff is well mannered.The rooms are facing the road, hence very noisy. Too much fast moving traffic throughout day and night.

  The hotel is in a good location at the Beyoglu, near the Miniaturk Park, but you need a taxi to Taksim -approx. 15 min if the traffic is ok. The staff was very helpful and kind. I stayed for two nights, on the first floor, just above the street so it was very noisy at night. The room was big, clean, with small kitchen but the bathroom was very small and definitely needed renovation. However, the worst was the bad smell coming from the toilet and the sewer at night, which made it almost impossible to sleep. I wouldn't stay there again.

  Always helpful staff, Large rooms with fully equipped kitchen and amazing views of the river. Best bargain. Makes you feel at home. Well equipped Gym, Turkish Bath, Steam, Sauna, Temperature controlled swimming pool, Spa facilities.
