  I was traveling in the area when I became stranded. The hostel that had accepted my reservation (and my money) was closed and completely gutted when I arrived to stay. It began pouring rain! Horrid. So, I stopped into Galata My Home, as it happened to be on the corner, and the fellow managing the place helped me. He phoned the mediator that booked my reservation and tried to negotiate my refund. This transaction proved too complicated for that very moment, but he offered me a discount on a room. It was refreshing to stay in a nice room. There is nothing more rewarding than benefitting from the benevolence of people when you run into trouble.

  Horrible place. Huge bug infestation. Got 30+ bug bites in my four nights. They moved rooms, and there were just as many bugs as before. One day the water did not work, and the only employee was autistic, which made things difficult, because he believed he could speak english, but in reality, he only knew "Ok no problem". When we were leaving they were being shut down by the police, and we were rushed out.

  Diverted to another hotel for overbooking

  We booked a double bedroom on booking.com just the day before our arrival, as we did for every destination of our journey through Turkey. After 14 hours of bus trip from Goreme to Istanbul, we were just more than happy to enter in our room and take shower. Get off the tram at Karakoy stop, we walked to the hotel and actually it was quite easy to find it. Entered in the reception it was clear that something was going wrong, it seemed like they didn't expect us at all. And indeed the hotel was full and they suggested us to move to another hotel, for the same price, in Sultanahmet area. I don't wanna talk about this other hotel now (room ridiculously small, hairs in the shower...), but, reading on some blogs after that, I discovered that also other travellers had the same experience in the Galata Pasha Hotel.

  Only good for single backpackers. If you are someone not sensitive to cleanliness and noise, you might consider this place. The windows are not soundproof and it feels like you are sleeping on the pedestrian side on the street.

  Echoing from the previous review, we checked in last night at 9:30 PM. Yet the manager requested full payment upon check in in Euro in CASH! We also booked the hotel through booking.com which showed that this hotel accepts card payment. I had some other currencies and could not exchange to euro nor turksig lira as it was late at night! The manager there showed us the card machine and said it was only accepting local credit cards! How rediculous this was! We had no choice but found another hotel instead. Once again, of course, the booking.com charged for one night stay as no show. The hotel is located at a very bad and unsafe neighbourhood. For the same rates, tourists can find nice rooms near Taksim in Beyoglu area.
