    Unsafe Conditions & Zero Accountability — We Had to Leave

    We booked this property through Booking.com, but I strongly advise others to stay away — for your health and sanity.Our room smelled overwhelmingly of raw sewage, which made it impossible to shower or use the bathroom. After complaining, staff poured chemicals down the drains and sprayed air freshener — the combination triggered a severe headache and asthma symptoms for my partner. The smell returned immediately.To make matters worse, a maintenance worker entered our room without knocking or notice, and the bottom floor of the hotel reeked of cat urine. This wasn’t a one-off: we met other guests complaining about similar issues (chemical odors, broken bathrooms).We left for our own well-being and messaged both the property and Booking.com with no response, despite multiple attempts through the app and email. We’ve since filed a dispute and documented everything with photos.This was a serious health hazard, not just an inconvenience. I don’t know how this hotel maintains such high reviews — be warned: it’s not as advertised.

    Amazing 5-day Trip to Istanbul

    This hotel is in an excellent location, just a 2 minute walk from Galata Tower and a 5 minute walk from Istiklal Street. It’s also very convenient, with easy access to the metro and tram stations. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-equipped, with efficient heating and even a hair dryer. We were impressed by the daily bottle of water and the room's overall cleanliness (towels were changed every day). The breakfast exceeded our expectations, offering a wide variety of both sweet and savory options. We booked the package with breakfast, but there's also an option for lunch and dinner via room service at an extra charge. On our last day, they even provided a lunch box since we had an early flight and couldn’t have breakfast. The hotel also offers additional services like airport transfers and a Hamam experience at extra cost. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with any request. A special thanks to Bedirhan for his help with check-in and recommending places to visit, to Zehra for booking our departure transfer smoothly, and to Ufuk for his friendly assistance with check-out.Room for improvement: The rooms were not very soundproof. However, this did not cause any problem during our stay. There was no lift which makes it harder to carry luggage. Stairs have no handrail. We can’t recommend this place enough—it’s worth every penny!

    The accomondation was really perfect. It was our pleasure to be there. Stuff is really kind and willing to help with everything. For sure it was a very good experience. The area is very close to Galata tower, so there are many shops and reataurants to enjoy your food or coffee. For sure if we repeat our trip to Instabul, we would choose MERODDI GALATA MANSION again!!
