    Nice place

    rating01 Aug 2024

I honestly can't understand the negative reviews at all! We had a wonderful holiday here. The location is great, the pool is lovely with plenty of sun loungers, although a few more parasols would be nice. There's a pleasant bar by the pool where you can get ice cream, coffee, drinks...There are many restaurants nearby. We only had breakfast at the hotel, and it was fine. The apartment suited us well (a family of five). The view from the balcony overlooking the sea was great, and the air conditioning worked well. There's a supermarket and a tobacco shop in the same building, and free parking is available in the spacious basement. The apartment was cleaned daily, and the staff were friendly. Overall, we can definitely recommend this place for a family holiday.

    Basic but great hotel

    rating01 Jul 2024

Hotel looks dated, BUT inside is everything you need, there’s a small kitchenette with utensils, hob & fridge. Very spacious & separated room with nice views. Lovely Aircon!!Adequate breakfast options & very fresh!Outstanding staff throughout the hotel including the cleaners. Highly recommend Xon Platja in Empuria! Thanks to all the Team, will definitely come back here when we are next visiting family. 👍👍👍

!DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE A FAMILY AND BRITISH!

    rating14 May 2024

I booked on to this hotel to go on a fun , family holiday with children and had a very bad experience. The staff were very rude and did not welcome us. The pool was shut (which we was never told prior to booking) , the outside area for children was old, damaged and dangerous. There was no sun beds or outdoor seating anywhere at the hotel. The rooms were very old, outdated and smelled of bad drainage. There was wires hanging from the ceiling and plug sockets coming out of the wall. They also advertised the rooms as apartments with a Kitchenette but they have no amenities such as a kettle or microwave which is a struggle with a baby. The staff made it clear they did not like us and went as far as accusing the children as being thieves and snatching forks / plates out of their hands as they wanted the other guests to have priority over the food. They also did not allow drinks under the ‘ all inclusive ‘ package and tried to charge for drinking water. The hotel made no effort to help compensate for the bad experience and point blank refused to take any responsibility. It wasn’t until the end of the trip we was told by our holiday provider the pool opposite, which you have to cross main roads from the hotel to get and has no facilities is available to use but we was never made aware of this by the hotel itself. If you are looking for a child friendly, welcoming hotel do not stay here.

    I had a lovely time

    rating16 Sept 2022

Hotel is a bit old and run down as most reviews state and staying on 9th floor, wifi was patchy to non-existent, however: I found the old timber furniture having a quite charming vibe actually and I didn't go there to sit online amongst pristine furnishings. I had everything I needed - a hob, a fridge, a bath, fresh towels every day, hair dryer, some kitchen cutlery, pottery and utensils. Beach is on your doorstep. I asked for a room with a nice view and I was given a room with the BEST view in the whole hotel if not neighbourhood - not telling you the number so it's not booked back to back when I want it :-) It was top floor, looking out on the beach and the Pyrenees. Balcony was huge, so spent every morning looking at the sun rise over the mountains and I am NOT a morning person usually! Can't say anything about the catering, gym or poor as didn't use them, but they are there if you wish. There is a supermarket (Spar) on the ground floor of the hotel. Staff was lovely and helpful, rooms get done every day. It was peaceful and quiet (maybe because at the end of the season) and I absolutely loved it there and definitely planning to go back. If you want a luxurious hotel room, go 5* hotel in Barcelona, if you want a pristine beach and breathtaking views, go Xol's.

Accident waiting to happen - Emergency fire exits lead to a locked gate

    rating15 Oct 2019

The hotel is average, the rooms are not bad and they all have nice balconies. The staff are pleasant. The breakfast is horrific, the worst I have ever seen, left overs from the night before, mostly cold, juice from a machine which taste like a chemical. Coffee machine which is terrible. Eggs swimming in oil, some days there was nothing I could eat, pancakes cold.I have nothing good to say about the breakfast.Positive parking was free and easily accessible.Bus loads of French tourists come daily and they are extremely obnoxious, they think they are in France, no effort to speak a few words of Spanish and extremely noisy.Swimming pool so cold it is unusable. Fitness room with more than half of the equipment defective, pretty useless and also unusable but gets a start I guess.I was involved in a hotel fire some years ago in Luxembourg where the fire and smoke detectors failed to work. Since that day I ALWAYS check the fire escapes.I was initially on the 9th floor where the WIFI does not work. I walked down the fire escape which took me 2 minutes to find it lead to the swimming pool. If you are trapped here you are dead as you are close to the potential smoke, flames and the building falling down on you. The two potential exit routes are towards the mini gold or the kids playground, both gates were locked therefore not emergency compliant.I moved to the 3rd floor and went down the stairs, this lead somewhere else but eventually I ended up at the swimming pool. If you value your life then I would avoid this hotel. It is allowed to smoke in the rooms and that worries me a lot.Safe is extra but reasonably priced.
