    Worse hotel experience

    rating16 Aug 2025

The worse hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We had to check out after the first night although we had booked and paid for two nights. They didn’t offer a refund. The room is dirty, it stinks of cigarettes and we didn’t sleep at all as the hotel is located next to multiple bars and clubs. The music/noise was on till 4am and our room was seriously located next to those clubs. The hotel had no facilities at all, not even a lobby. Please do not stay here, it’s not worth your money. Worse hotel experience ever.

Extremely loud music and club next door

    rating30 Jul 2024

I wrote, deleted, and am rewriting this review because I had hoped to be able to leave a more positive comment than my original, but it is not possible. The upsides: the location is a bustling tourist area in a positive sense — it’s easy to catch a host of buses, there are people and families walking around until very late, and the view from the side of the Bosphorus is genuinely beautiful. The hotel is relatively small and aesthetically pleasing in a specific way, and the beds and bathroom are very comfortable. However, a specific downside makes this place effectively impossible unless you are a night owl with extremely poor hearing and earplugs: a club next door to the hotel will POUND music until literally 3 or 4am, irrespective of the night. I have never experienced anything like this. If you are DO book, make sure you are not on the first floor, or you may as well give up sleep for the night — your hotel room will vibrate. On the second floor, and perhaps also the third, you will also be keenly aware of the electronic music next door, and powerless to change it. Unless you plan to keep the same hours as the club, I would recommend elsewhere.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP

    rating06 Jun 2024

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. They had a DJ in the lobby who played loud thumping music until 1am and bars right next door that played until 4am. To appreciate just how loud it was, I’ve been to quieter music festivals. It was so loud that the bed, light fittings and windows were shaking. I had to go down to reception 3 times to ask if they could turn the music down. The first time they barely turned it down, it at all. The second time, the night manager seemed to get in an argument with the DJ who then turned the music up. It wasn’t until I went to reception again, demand to be moved rooms, hotels or given a full refund that they did anything. I got the night manager in to the room and showed him the vibrating light fittings that he believed me and they turned the bass down, but not off, at 1am. This didn’t stop the nearby bars competing to see who could be loudest until the next morning. They should not be able to advertise this hotel without mentioning the noise. Nobody in their right mind could sleep through that. Even with ear plugs or headphones you can still feel the music. We’re both knackered and our trip has been ruined.

    Horrible

    rating29 Apr 2024

We booked the Ortakoy Hotel several months ago, because it was advertised as a decent, 4-star, cosy boutique hotel, and we were a big group of family and friends attending an important life event; my son’s wedding. It was more expensive than bigger near-by hotels, as the Radisson, but we would like a good hotel as we were bringing two family members aged 84 and a baby. My father, 84, was allowed by the doctors to travel if we took good care of him.The hotel seemed to live up to the expectations when we arrived Thursday except for missing shampoo and soap and a poor level of cleaning in some of the bathrooms, but we could live with that. The problems started around 23 pm when the night club next door started the music. And then it got louder, and louder and louder – virtually as if we were in the night club until 4 am in the morning. During the night, several guests got up up in pyjamas (myself in nightgown) and tried to get the receptionist to take some kind of action. He kindly replied that it was normal procedure that the neighbouring night club played loud music until 4 am in the morning. So, for most of the guests, we didn’t get any sleep. In the case of me and my husband, we were so upset when the music stopped at 4 am and so worried for our elder family members that we didn’t get a second of sleep. There were many attempts to speak reason to the receptionist and the hotel manager the next days. They regretted the situation and told us they had trouble with the night club which (according to them) had only been there for a few months. The receptionist and hotel manager did not have any solution for their guests, and they could not promise that the next nights would be better. To be honest, they seemed more worried about their own situation than their guests. We had already paid for 3 nights through booking.com and the hotel refused to reimburse us, but as we could not possibly attend the prewedding party Friday as well as the wedding on the Saturday without any sleep, we saw no other solution than to move hotel and pay for two hotels. We shifted to the Radisson which was more reasonable than what we had paid for Ortakoy Hotel, and were it was all quiet. So, to round up – the first word I can use to describe Ortakoy Hotel is unforgivable. The room of my father who is 84 was virtually facing the night club, and he was attending his grandson’s wedding. My mother-in-law who is 84 was, on top of the music, kept awake by the hotel phone ringing several times during the night. My niece and husband who were travelling for the first time with their baby aged 1 were desperate to escape the hotel after a night with loud music keeping them awake. The next word I can use is fraud. The hotel is not a 4-star hotel and cannot be categorized as a hotel since it’s impossible to sleep there. It now costs a fourth compared to what we paid. Maybe because of the club, but the least they could have done was to alert us or give us a warning before we paid. The third word, I can use to describe trying to sleep at this hotel is torture as it is extremely stressful being kept all night when you have have brought your whole family and closest friends to attend a two-day life event. We spent hours of stressful conversations and new last-minute bookings at other hotels. We had to move young and elderly family members, and many had to try to get just a little sleep during the day. Precious time that should have been spent on celebrating a life event. This is unforgivable and can never be paid back to us. But if the Ortakoy Hotel had just a little bit of decency, they should reimburse our hotel expenses.

The hotel was very nice! A lovely boutique hotel in old-fashioned building. The interior and the design are stunning. Friendly and affable staff, who can help any time. I really enjoyed delicious breakfasts. Highly recommended!P.s Ortakoy pier in 2 min walking.
