Named after the hills of Pera and located close to the Golden Horn in the area of Tepebasi, this charming historical hotel enjoys a central location within 5 to 8 minutes’ walk from Istiklal Street and the colourful Beyoglu district with its many shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife. The famous attractions of Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia) are approximately 4 km from the city hotel and can be easily reached on public transport. There are links to the public transport and a bus station just 2 minutes’ walk from the hotel, and the nearest metro station, Taksim Square and Galata Tower are all around an 8-minute walk. Istanbul-Ataturk Airport is approximately 24 km from the hotel.

    Wonderful Hotel in a great area of Istanbul

    Booked an historic Senior Suite as a special treat for our 38th wedding anniversary and after watching 'Midnight at the Pera Palace' on Netflix, there are only 3 of these rooms in the hotel and one has been kept as the Ataturk museum room and we had a fabulous time, we even had the treat of riding in the historic lift up to our room.Loved the hotel and our room (301) was superb with a huge bedroom, separate dressing room with desk, big bathroom and entrance hall. Large floor to ceiling windows with a small balcony had views to the West and the South over the Golden Horn and city. Genuine antique furnishings, super sized comfy bed, modern and stylish bathroom with Acqua di Parma toiletries. All very comfortable and quiet.The staff throughout the hotel were excellent and Cihat Yukel, the Front Office Manager, was exceptionally helpful and friendly taking the time to listen to us and help us. The Orient Bar was wonderfully atmospheric with great cocktails, the Agatha Restaurant was too stark but food was fine but with so many places to eat and drink nearby we ate out after cocktails in the bar. the Spa had just been refurbished but was disappointing and hugely expensive and there are better Hammams close by. The Pera Palace is in the Beyoglu area of Istanbul, by far the best area for visitors who want to see the real life of the city and within walking distance of Istiklal Avenue with it's shops, cafes and bars and near the Galata Tower and Taksim Square. Tourists all go to the Sultanahmet area, the old city with the Blue Mosque , Hagia Sopia, etc but it's not great to stay. If you visit Istanbul, one of the greatest cities in the world, then be adventurous and walk through the winding streets, go into the little cafes in the back streets, hop on one of the ferries on Bosphorous instead of paying for a tourist cruise, walk or use public transport instead of taxis which is so cheap, clean and simple to use. English is widely spoken and people were all so helpful.We found Istanbul and the Pera Palace to be wonderful and historic with lovely, proud people that welcomed us warmly. Top tip: wear comfortable shoes for plenty of walking on uneven surfaces

    This hotel is from another era, where luxury was available to the lucky few.We happen to have had the pleasure of 5 days in the Greta Garbot suite.Outstanding!The hotel is historic in its fixtures and fittings which have been faithfully maintained.The service by all the staff is wonderful. The Concierge desk will help you with all those bookings that make your holiday so special.Breakfast is particularly of such a high standard.Lots of choices and eggs cooked to order.Always a favourite !Room was maintained beautifully and the daily clean was excellent.For those who want a special stay in Istanbul… stay here.     We stayed at Pera Palace Hotel in the beginning of May, before our Italy and France vacation…THIS hotel was by far the best. The staff, especially Baran, was so helpful and friendly.Everything is stunning, well kept and the small details(chocolate on bed before bedtime) made the stay extra memorable.
