    Lovely small hotel

    Lovely small hotel in a historic stone building just outside of Santillana Del Mar. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely pastoral location - the property is large and well tended, and we could hear cow bells from our room! Lovely room with canopy bed, quite comfortable.

    Great value for money. Good way to avoid the expensive coastal hotels if you have a car. Exposed stone walls seem to be in every room. Don't be put off by the new housing on entering the town as the outlook is bucolic from the rooms.

    Room smells like Skunk

    We had a room that smelled like Skunk, we had to change our family room stay (persons per room) since there were no more rooms available. We complained and the answer was that it is a regular smell (it was the only room that smelled that way out of 4 that we had) and that there was nothing they could do other that odor spray. They mentioned the smell was due to the rocks. Strangely it was with open door and Windows when we arrived to check in and with odor eliminator in the window. So if it is normal how come it was the only room with these items. The other rooms are nice, a bit uncomfortable due to roof inclination on the 3rd floor. No AC in the rooms but weather was nice and we had to sleep with the windows open. Small space to unpack, closets are too small. Definitely not a 4star hotel.

    The hotel was like a medieval estate, but much cleaner! The staff were pleasant and polite. The surroundings were enchanting.The beds were comfortable, and we had several pillows. Breakfast wasn't spectacular, but the coffee was good.     Insincere service and poor quality. Mercenary disposition.

    This is a two star property at best. Although the surrounding area is spectacular this hotel offers little service and no facilities. Booked 3 rooms for two nights and had to argue for an extra pillow! No wine in the "bar!" Left after 1 night and was still charged for supplementary beds for the unused night. Horrible breakfast. The best part of the visit was leaving a day early.
