    Great experience

The staff here made the stay very pleasant, any issues were dealt with promptly. The place was a comfortable stay with great cleaning services too! The hotel’s restaurant has the BEST food, you will not be disappointed. The views from the hotel are scenic, it’s located in a central area where many places you’ll want to go are pretty much walkable or easily reachable. The place and stay was very welcoming. Great thanks to the staff, their service was amazing and unforgettable. If you’re looking for a perfect place to stay in Istanbul overall and worth your money, look no further.

    Worst experience in 50 years

    rating28 May 2025

I had a small single room directly above the lobby and at midnight on the first night was kept awake by people yelling downstairs (staff and patrons at the bar/cafe next door). I was frustrated, got out of bed and went to reception to complain. Later I was woken up by more loud talking. This time I got out of bed, went to the lobby and shouted at them to shut up. The next morning the manager kicked me out off the hotel and said guests had complained about my shouting and walking around naked! Rubbish. I apologised to him but said it was the staff and drunken bar patrons who had caused the problem, making noise and keeping me awake. Also, the first time I went to complain I had long pants on but was topless. Nobody saw me except 2 staff at reception. The 2nd time, I was fully dressed. This arrogant man wouldn’t listen to a word I said and just said “get your things and leave” - and told staff to watch over me as I packed and escorted me off the premises. No time to book another room, just dumped on the street with my luggage. Disgusting. I’m 69yo and I’ve never been kicked out of a hotel in my life. The manager also insisted on me paying again for the first night so he could cancel the entire booking - this ensured I couldn’t leave a review on booking.com. The service was also poor - the listing said the room had tea/coffee making facilities but there was no kettle or tea/coffee. Note, this hotel is near shops and restaurants but at the bottom of a steep hill you must trudge up for 10-15 minutes to reach public transport (buses and trams). Thankfully I found another place, which treated me with courtesy and respect. I will never forgive the staff at Sunlight Hotel for their behaviour!

    Very poor and disgusting

    rating17 Aug 2024

I'll try to be less emotional and objective. Location: the hotel is located in a crowdy area, where there's no silence. There's an ongoing construction right before the hotel, so there's a lot of dust and dirt coming from there. The construction machines make so much noise and even at late night. I stayed there for 4 nights, and they worked till morning. If you travel with small kids it's not an option. Breakfast in the rooftop terrace: even though they promote and advertise it everywhere the meals served do not seem to be of high quality and fresh, very poor and few options - no meat (no chicken no fish). Rooms: the furniture is old, and needs renovating. There's a SPA in the basement and strange restaurant or cafe on the first floor which gathers strange people all night and you may feel unhealthy atmosphere (it's a kind of drank people's place). In general very noisy, and forget about sleeping if you come to this hotel.

Awful hotel with disgusting staff, avoid,

The room smells of cigarettes and when mentions the staff they didn’t care.Whenever we asked for anything, they would always ask for money. They made us pay extra when we got to the property. They were rude throughout and lacking customer service. They entered the room, even though do not disturb sign, was on.They kept making excuses to come into the room. All of the staff is male, except for the cleaners. The cleaning lady told us that she was spoken to badly, and we heard the manager berating her and treating her poorly.I’m not surprised us like that and yelling at us when we refused to pay the additional charges. He threatened to kick us out and attempted to do so unless we paid. We had no choice but to pay as he was attempting to remove our items from the room.

Our last night. We had a fabulous stay at Sunlight spa Hotel. The breakfast was good each morning. The hotel in the great central location. BIG thank you to Umut and the reception who helped us every step of the way and did everything he could do to look after us and make sure we had a comfortable stay. Thanks again I would recommend this hotel.
