  A hotel stay with such a bad experience

  The hotel rooms was so bad, that out of 4 rooms that we booked, 3 of them had issues with Air con’s not functioning, windows can’t be closed, foul smell in the room, bathroom doors can’t be locked and even basic amenities, such as towels were not provided until we had to go and request from the front desk.The breakfast was so basic and the coffee machine was not functioning.

  We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of April 2026. We had previously stayed multiple times at Old City Viva Hotel (a sister property), which is currently under renovation, so we chose this hotel partly based on our past positive experience and also because we had already tried the breakfasts here before.The location is excellent – right near Sirkeci, which we consider one of the best areas to stay in Istanbul thanks to its atmosphere and perfect transport connections.Our room (101) looked exactly like in the photos, which was a pleasant surprise. Cleanliness was fine, the bed was comfortable, and we had no issues with water pressure or hot water – both in the shower and the sink. In fact, hot water was available almost instantly. The room was quite warm even without heating or AC running, which might be a plus or minus depending on the season.Breakfast is often criticized in other reviews, but we think that’s not entirely fair. It’s a buffet with plenty of options, mainly Turkish-style, and you can choose what you like. Food was generally replenished regularly, and there was some variation between days. While the organization wasn’t always perfect (e.g., missing cutlery at times or small details like tiny yogurt portions without proper spoons), overall we would still describe the breakfast as good and sufficient.What really stood out – unfortunately in a negative way – was the inconsistency of the staff. At check-in, the receptionist didn’t greet us at all and only said my name while being on the phone. No welcome, no basic interaction. This matches some other reviews we had read. We were then sent to the room with a porter, who simply opened the door, inserted the key card, and left immediately without any explanation. On the other hand, there were also some staff members who were polite and friendly, so it really depends on who you meet.There were also a few technical and comfort issues: the shower head sprayed unevenly, the toilet was leaking and needed careful handling when flushing, and Wi-Fi was inconsistent (sometimes working fine, sometimes not at all). We also occasionally noticed a slight food smell in the room, possibly from nearby kitchens.Another downside was noise – from other guests on our floor late at night.Despite these drawbacks, mainly related to staff and some maintenance details, we would still consider staying here again due to the excellent location and overall value for money.

  Perfect hotel close to tram station 4 min walk each direction stayed their whole week with my family nice clean decent hotel breakfast menu is doable could do with more verities rooms decent clean house keeping is on point i have enjoyed stay here

  Good experience overall but with some hiccups.

  The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Staff was nice. They served as with a welcome tea. Breakfast was pretty decent. On the downside. The AC filters were filthy (check photos). It was blowing dust when we turned on. Had to clean them ourselves. The hotel isn't located on a busy street, but because the windows are single glassed and poorly insulated, it's very noisy. Also, there's poor sound deadening in the bathroom. You can hear everything your neighbor's doing. If you need and iron, they can't provide one.
