  Great, just not the right area for me

  It is a great hotel, great food, great staff. The only thing I did not like was the location. Although a big plus is being almost right at the ocean, one km away is the area where young people go party. I went running at 6 am and ran into a few youngsters returning to their hotel from going out and it was not the best encounter. For the rest is is a great hotel and I really liked my stay there.   For us this is the best place to stay in Crete

  We returned this year to the Kalypso hotel again because we have had such a great holiday last year. Now we are here again it feels like coming home, Very helpfull and friendly staff, nothing is to much for them of you need something! The rooms are very comfortable and also very clean. Each day they are cleaned so well that it is a pleasure to stay in them. Breakfast and diner, all the food is fresh, home made and very tastefull! There is so much diversity in the food so if you do not like something there is enough to choose from! The cocktails in the bar are really delicious and lunch at the pool is also fresh and tastefull! Also the pool is a good place to stay, comfortable beds and also clean!!! We love the hotel and we can recommend it to everyone! We will return next year again!   Great little boutique hotel

  The hotel has just been renovated and that shows.The rating says it is a 4-star hotel but in our opinion it is a 5-star accomodation.Modern rooms with great beds.Nice pool.Great staff.Only a 5 minute walk to the best beach of Malia, where you can rent your beds and umbrella with a discount.Only remark we have that the variety of the food offered for dinner needs to bigger. kalypsohotelmalia, Υπεύθυνος Ρεσεψιόν at Kalypso Hotel, responded to this review Thank you so much for dedicating time to review us.We do appreciate the fact that you evaluate us as a 5-star accommodation.   Very nice hotel !!

  Kalypso is a very nice hotel, nearby the centre of Malia.The hotel recently renewed, in a very tastefull manor. Particularry the poolarea is very nice.The rooms are nice, but not very big (very good air conditioning)The food is good, but not out of the ordinary.At breakfast the fresh bread stands out; it is delicious.At diner the cold buffet stands out; it is just superb!!!The warm buffet is rather of mediocre quality.:- not a lot of variation (avery day white rice, baked patato, no fries)- not alle the dishes are available at all time during dinner- just one time french fries in a week (and not a lot available)- not a lot af fish (so close to the sea??)But because the cold buffet is so great, this was not a problem for us!!Drinks are good and not expensive!And then the real quality of the hotel: the staff!!Very frendly and professional.They create a very nice atmosphere during the whole day.We had a great stay at this quality hotel.Warmly recommended!!!Some nice extra's:- fresh spring water is available for all guests for free- staff brings guests cold water spray at the pool for free- free use of save in room, free wifi, free air contioning all day and night. kalypsohotelmalia, Υπεύθυνος Ρεσεψιόν at Kalypso Hotel, responded to this review Thank you very much for your kind words.It is so nice to hear that you have enjoyed every single moment with us.We take under serious consideration your comments and we will do our utmost.Looking forward to welcoming you in the near future in Hotel Kalypso Malia.

  Absolutely perfect Honeymoon hotel!

  My partner booked the Kalypso as a mini honeymoon after our wedding. He has reservations at first as some of the photos on Voyage Privé were CGI as renovations were taking place, he called to enquire that renovations were complete and thankfully they were. We had an extremely warm greeting when we arrived. First impressions of the hotel were great, it was clearly recently refurbished and is wonderfully decorated. The room was very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed (Including Aircon). The rooms were cleaned regularly and linen changed upon request. We were half board, the breakfast buffet was amazing and the selection available was perfect! Evening food varies each night with a varsity of Greek cuisine. There were lots of selection of hot and cold food as well as a great selection of desserts. Prices of drinks were very reasonable at €3.50 a glass of wine (All chargeable to the room). We had a few afternoons by the pool at the hotel, with lots of seating for it's guests. My only criticism is that more umbrellas were needed for shade as it can get very hot around lunch time, there is pool service where you can order drinks and snacks although they could do with more of a presence around the pool as most the time we would have to find a staff member to order. The staff that we dealt with were very polite and welcoming, and during food times were very on the ball! What I love about this hotel is that it doesn't have hundreds of rooms meaning you never feel as if the public areas are too busy.
