    Tranquil, calming and peaceful - A must do activity

    A wonder couple of hours spent at the Balçova Termal Otel Health & Spa Club. As non-hotel guests we were welcomed warmly and offered a viewing of the facilities before we purchased a 2 hour ticket (1250TL pp) Pools were all between 33-35 degrees with the jacuzzis slightly higher. Super hot saunas, lovely steam room and a salt room too. Options for ladies only pools, jacuzzi and saunas too. Clean and well kept changing facilities, toilets and showers in separate gender areas and head coverings provided without charge. A definite must do to feel relaxed, refreshed and invigorated- yes these facilities are dated but the charm and benefits far outweigh the superficiality of cosmetic appearances. Will definitely return during winter months.

    Definitely not a 4 star. Stayed here for 2 weeks. I came to this hotel for cure and leaving sick because;-people in the surrounding rooms smoke and the smoke comes into my room. I am allergic to smoke. As a result my sinuses are blocked, throat inflamed, chest is tickling and voice is affected. Management cannot stop people from smoking. They cannot enforce it some how while in other countries it can be done and in this country there is a smoking ban in closed areas, for years, which includes hotels. I am fed up with complaining about smoke. -treatment building has hot and cold areas. You come out of a warm room into cold and breezy and smokey corridors. Why? Because they ripped off the underfloor heating and can’t warm the place with radiators. -some pools are cold some pools are extremely hot. There isn’t enough number of showers so when you come out of a hot pool you are doomed because you catch cold while waiting for shower in a cold changing room. -pools smell strong chlorine. There is no evidence of natural spring water. I stayed here for two weeks but could use the pools only 3 times because of these issues. My sister got rashes on her skin. - whole place is run down. Needs a significant uplift. Looks like a hostel. -food is terrible. Haven’t seen such bad cooking anywhere else before. Breakfast is also poor. -lights are not sufficient in the rooms and in the bathrooms. Forget reading a book or shaving. Shame because mostly elderly and people with mobility issues stay here. -staff are friendly and helpful but get tried of off you if you keep bothering them with the same issue like me complaining about smoking. They expect Turkish customers to put up with everything. In some cases they may be right because mostly Turkish customers are smoking and not respecting the rules. -rooms don’t smell nice All-in-all, I wouldn’t come here again. Came to get better and leaving as sick. Smoking is a big issue at the Turkish hotels. Therefore I am scared to come to Turkiye and stay at hotels.

    Ridiculous Place

    As a non-hotel customer and turkish citizen who usually do hiking around thermal facility, security guy didn't allow us enter to walk after 8pm because of a ridiculous rule they made. This facility belongs to government but act like it is a private owned place and it looks like they only want hotel customers walk there and foreigners. Also, price increased to could use thermal pools from 50 turkish lira to 1000 turkish lira in just 5 years.

    Best value of anyplace I've ever stayed, and I've travelled in 70 countries! Nice room with balcony overlooking the forest, huge and delicious breakfast, use of the beautiful spa and grounds, and nearby hiking trails. Was so great I decided to spend a whole month here!

    This evaluation is about the thermal pools which are located next to the hotel. As a native of this region, I go to the thermal baths from time to time, which gies me an opportunity to see the decay of management there. Namely, the pools are fine, the criteria for hygiene are very reasonable, compared to some hotels in the city. However: the visitors who do not follow up the rules and regulations about using these pools are not warned by the people who are in charge of taking care of these pools. It is clear that the management does not want to scare people by enforcing these rules. Wearing a cap should be compulsory for everybody. Other than that it's just fine.
