Simple and a little ageing but very well located and pleasant

    rating29 Apr 2026

The Cleopatra hotel is located in the centre of Nicosia. It is billed as a 4* hotel (though feels more like 3*) which is very well located.Strengths:- Great location in central Nicosia, about 10 minutes walk from Nicosia old town, 15 minutes from Ledra crossing- I found the staff generally nice- Rooms are quite large and offer balconies- Food (restaurant, room service) is reasonably priced and reasonably goodLimitations:- Rooms feel a little aging- Air conditioning didn't work in my room- Noise insulation is close to non existent. I was first given a room overlooking towards the swimming pool which was nice, but at 5am, the person in the room switched on his tv and I could literally hear every word, every beat, etc. It was impossible to sleep. Thankfully the hotel managed to move me for the second night and that was great- The hotel feels "budget" in some ways. There is a bathtub but no plug so you can't run baths, breakfast buffet (hot and cold) is pretty limited and coffees not very good (also in the room it is instant coffee), swimming pool (which looks very nice, probably the best part of the hotel!) was still close at the end of April and people's empty glasses etc were not collected. In short, this is a good option for a decently priced hotel in an excellent location but don't expect something luxurious or very modern. With those limits in mind I recommend it as a choice in central Nicosia and would come again.

    Grumpy

    rating12 Jun 2025

The building and rooms are good but the staff are the grumpiest I have met anywhere in the world. The man in the bar was extremely rude and when challenged he said that a customer had irritated him. The breakfast staff did not speak or smile. And the man at the reception was completely unwelcoming. The place needs a management rethink Haris I, Marketing at Cleopatra Hotel, responded to this review Dear Mel A,Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the building and your room. However, we're truly sorry to learn about your experience with our staff. This is certainly not the level of service we strive to provide, and we take such concerns very seriously. We will be investigating this matter further, as ensuring every guest feels welcome, valued, and appreciated is a top priority for us.If possible, could you please share your reservation details with us? This will help us look into the issue more thoroughly.

Terrible hotel in Nicosia right on the intersection of about 4 noisy, busy roads

    rating28 May 2025

Terrible hotel in Nicosia right on the intersection of about 4 noisy, busy roads. Very, very noisy and refusal to give us a quieter room. The room they transferred us to was just as noisy and they said they had no others. Just a terrible hotel for traffic noise. Otherwise we had no complaints, the room was OK, the service was reasonable, the bar lounge was nice. But don't stay here if you want peace and quiet. You will get the opposite, lots of loud traffic noise! Haris I, Marketing at Cleopatra Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you had an overall positive experience during your stay with us.We’re truly sorry to learn that noise impacted your visit. While our central location provides the convenience of being close to shops, restaurants, businesses, and local attractions, we understand it may occasionally come with some unintended disturbances. Please note that our rooms are equipped with double-glazed windows and the hotel is set back from the main street, but we regret that this did not fully meet your expectations. We always strive to accommodate our guests’ preferences, and we’re sorry that the alternative room we offered didn’t meet your needs. During periods of full occupancy, our ability to offer different room options can be limited, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We truly value your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for an even more enjoyable stay.Warm regards,

Haris I, Marketing at Cleopatra Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay with us. We’re delighted to hear that you found our hotel a worthwhile base and that you enjoyed the spacious room, excellent Wi-Fi, cleanliness, and the courteous service from our staff. We're especially pleased that our central location added value to your stay — being just minutes from the old town, main shopping street, supermarkets, and a great variety of restaurants and cafés is something many of our guests appreciate, and we’re glad it worked well for you too.We also appreciate your comment regarding the corridor carpet. While the carpet is brand new, we understand that the design may give a misleading impression, and your feedback will help us assess how best to present our public areas. We would like to inform you that we are currently renovating other parts of our Hotel.Thank you again for your valuable insights. We hope to welcome you back soon for another enjoyable stay in Nicosia.

    Disappointing Experience Despite Good Location

    rating20 May 2025

The location of Cleopatra Hotel is undoubtedly a strong point—it’s very well situated, close to the old part of Nicosia and centrally located in the city. Unfortunately, my overall experience was far from satisfactory. The service was poor, and the attitude of the manager/owner was especially disappointing. The hot water in my room didn’t work properly, which added to the discomfort. What was most frustrating was the way the hotel handled a personal item of mine. I brought my own iron for convenience, and on the second day, I returned to my room to find it missing. After searching, I found a written note from the hotel administration stating that if I wanted my iron back, I had to call them. When I did, they informed me that they had taken it because irons were not allowed in rooms. I asked to speak with the manager, as I felt it was completely unacceptable for someone to enter my room and take a personal belonging without my permission. The manager was very harsh and unapologetic. He insisted that hotel policy allows them to remove prohibited items at any time without informing the guest. He didn’t even offer a basic apology for the way the situation was handled. He told me I could only get my iron back at checkout—which made things even more inconvenient. He also told me I could use the hotel’s ironing room, which is supposedly open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The next morning, I called the receptionist at 7:00 am to check if the room was open. He said it would open at 7:30. I went there at 7:45, and it was still closed. After calling the front desk again, I was told it was open—but when I went back, it was still locked. I had to wait until 7:55 for it to finally open.Overall, the poor service, lack of basic hospitality, and intrusive behavior of the hotel staff made my stay very uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone who values respect, privacy, and reliable service. Haris I, Marketing at Cleopatra Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're pleased to hear that you appreciated our central location, which many guests find convenient for exploring both the old town and the modern center of Nicosia. We are truly sorry to hear that other aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Regarding the iron, please note that it is indeed hotel policy—implemented for the health and safety of all our guests and staff—not to allow irons in guest rooms. Instead, we offer a dedicated ironing room, which is available to all guests during set hours. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and delay you experienced in accessing the ironing room. Your feedback highlights areas where our communication and service can be improved, and we are reviewing internal procedures to prevent similar issues in the future. We also regret to hear that you had difficulties with the hot water and found the service lacking. We have a technical department that takes care of any technical issues a guest may encounter. Please know that your comments are taken seriously and have been shared with the relevant departments for further review and follow-up.We thank you again for your feedback and wish you all the best in your future travels.
