    Pure Bliss

We had the most wonderful stay at Nissia Kamares Hotel Apartments in Kardamena, Kos. From the moment we arrived, the warm, friendly staff made us feel right at home – their hospitality truly goes above and beyond. The apartments are spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need, including kitchenettes, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and balconies overlooking the lush, flower-filled gardens. It’s the perfect combination of traditional Greek charm with modern comforts. The location is ideal – just a short stroll to the heart of Kardamena. Yet the hotel feels like a peaceful oasis, offering quiet and relaxation after busy days exploring the island. The outdoor pool and garden area are perfect for soaking up the sun with a drink in hand. What really sets Nissia Kamares apart is the personal touch. The staff genuinely care, offering helpful local tips and making every guest feel like part of the family. It’s no surprise so many visitors return year after year.Whether you’re visiting Kos for the first time or returning to a favourite island, Nissia Kamares Hotel Apartments is a true gem – highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, charm, and exceptional service.

No peace and quiet which spoilt our holiday

    rating05 Dec 2025

We were very disappointed with this hotel/apartments. We went in October thinking there wouldn’t be school age children there. Unfortunately there were quite a few families including families with grandparents. The way these rooms are set out is not conducive to peace and quiet as the rooms overlook a courtyard setting and the only outdoor space (which is very small with uncomfortable chairs) is not private. Families were returning to their room after midnight and kids were very noisy. Unfortunately for us there were some grandparents in the next room and the whole family congregated outside our room. This same family were up at the crack of dawn putting towels for all their family in the best locations. One day, these sunbeds were left unused until after lunchtime leaving everyone else in the shade. The breakfast was very basic and cold. Fortunately we had taken our own cereals with us. It rained for 3 days whilst we were there so come breakfast time everything was wet as all tables bar three were outside. It was also cold sitting outside. These apartments are better suited for self catering. The rooms themselves were modern and clean but only had one door to the inside. Our balcony was unusable due to kids screaming and playing ball games outside. Couples on their own would be better going elsewhere. This a true report of our experience. Nissia Kamares, Owner at Nissia Kamares Hotel Apartments, responded to this review Dear Pauline,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your stay with us. We truly appreciate your positive comments about the room design and cleanliness. Our hotel is well known for its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, and maintaining this environment is very important to us.We sincerely apologize that noise disturbed your stay. As explained in detail in the previous review posted by Kacie P., the incidents you refer to were caused by a specific party, and our team intervened promptly and firmly to address the situation. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, this resulted in inconvenience both for the party involved and for other guests, for which we are truly sorry. Our property is designed in a traditional Greek island village style, offering individual rooms with private balconies overlooking shared courtyards. While many guests appreciate this distinctive layout, we understand that it may not suit everyone’s preferences, and we regret that it did not meet your expectations.Regarding breakfast, we offer a wide selection of both cold and warm options, which we believe goes far beyond a basic offering. Weather conditions for a few days during your stay were indeed unfavorable, and we regret that the rain affected your breakfast experience. Finally, concerning the use of sunbeds, please note that our hotel policy does not permit reserving sunbeds with towels. The swimming pool area is accessible to all guests after 08:00 a.m., and sunbeds are always available for all guests. Our reception team is always happy to assist immediately and on the spot should any issues arise.Thank you once again for sharing your experience. We regret that your stay did not fully meet your expectations and we appreciate your feedback.Kind regards,The Nissia Kamares Team

    Total disappointment

    rating21 Oct 2025

During my recent stay in the hotel Nissia Kamares in Kos we were subject to unnecessary and unfair direct discrimination that has left me disgusted. This experience ruined what was meant to be a much-needed family holiday and as a mother travelling alone with three young children, including my severely autistic and non-verbal son, I expected basic courtesy, understanding, and a safe environment. The discriminatory and unwelcoming behaviour that was displayed by multiple members of the hotel staff (including the manager) was disgusting. My son is severely autistic and non-verbal. As part of his condition, he engages in stimming behaviours such as making repetitive noises and jumping/flapping- something that is not disruptive or harmful, but a natural and necessary expression of his neurological condition and his attempt to self-regulate. Naturally this is likely to be heightened in unfamiliar environments.Instead of demonstrating understanding and patience or at the very least basic human decency, the staff repeatedly made us feel uncomfortable, unwelcome and at times unsafe. I was made to feel as though our son’s presence was a nuisance. No parent should be made to feel as though their child is a burden- disabled or not.Shockingly, the mistreatment began on our very first night, setting a distressing tone for the rest of the holiday. I was in our room alone with my three children when hotel staff knocked on the door and confronted me, demanding that I “find a solution to keep him quiet and shut him up” referring to my autistic son’s stimming behaviours, such as vocalising and jumping. These are entirely normal and necessary responses for him in a new and overwhelming environment, so this was an utterly inappropriate and insensitive demand. The staff could see first- hand the struggle I was having but continued to knock on the door on a number of occasions and proceeded to bring the police with them, each knock getting more aggressive. They then insinuated that if we could not resolve the “issue” we should find alternative accommodation. The tone and manner in which this was done were not only inappropriate but deeply intimidating, especially to a lone mother in a foreign country. I was left feeling vulnerable and completely unsupported. My son’s behaviours are part of how he navigates the world, especially in unfamiliar settings. To be told in our own room- our only private space during this holiday, that he must be silenced is appalling.I felt cornered and no longer safe. The implication that we were disturbing others-simply by existing - was not only offensive, but discriminatory against my son’s disability. Rather than offering support or understanding, the staff made it clear we were a problem from the start. The complete lack of disability awareness and sensitivity shown by the team was deeply upsetting and hurtful and as a parent watching my son be treated as though he were a problem rather than a guest was infuriating and heartbreaking. What should have been a lovely and relaxing experience for our family was turned into a stressful and upsetting ordeal- caused by staff at this hotel. My expectation was that we would be met with excellent hospitality and would have a lovely break away, which I don’t think is too much to expect, but instead we were unpleasantly surprised. We were treated with judgement, suspicion and exclusion and were exposed to inhospitable, uneducated staff. We were treated like an inconvenience rather than warmly welcomed like all the other paying guests. To make matters worse, staff continued to act with hostility and a lack of compassion throughout our stay. They did not offer a solution or assistance to my struggle, instead they complained about everything including the sound made when I had to pull our pram up the stairs- something unavoidable when caring for small children. Again, instead of kindness or assistance, we were met with nasty comments and judgmental looks. The consistent lack of empathy and understanding from the team was unacceptable. This treatment completely ruined what should have been a special and relaxing holiday for my children and me and our entire stay was overshadowed by this incident and the general unwelcoming atmosphere. This should have felt like our temporary home. Instead, I spent the entire time feeling anxious, unwelcome, and afraid of further confrontation. No family, especially one with a disabled child should be subjected to such treatment. Our experience was not only intimidating but it was discriminatory. This behaviour does not belong in any environment, but least of all at a hotel that claims to welcome families. No support or understanding was given at any time during my stay, instead the staff’s actions and attitude expressed that my autistic child was not welcome. This hotel is simply unable to accommodate the additional needs of a disabled child and the staff are not willing to understand or show any sign of empathy. The message was clear from the first night. My son and his disability were not welcome at this hotel. It is outrageous that in 2025 a hospitality establishment is so unprepared and unwilling to accommodate neurodiverse guests and their families with compassion and basic respect. The total lack of empathy and inclusion was disgusting and appalling. This hotel is lacking disability awareness and autism training.I must emphasise that this behaviour reflects poorly, not only on the staff involved but on the hotel as a whole. It is essential for any hospitality establishment- particularly those welcoming families and international guests- to ensure that all staff are adequately trained in inclusivity and disability awareness. I strongly recommend that action is taken to prevent any family from being treated the way that we were.Additionally, I strongly urge the hotel to reconsider staff training practices, ensuring that mandatory training is provided for all staff regarding disability awareness, autism acceptance and inclusion, inclusive hospitality practices and how to appropriately engage with families who have children with additional needs. The handling of this situation demonstrates a serious failure in duty of care and basic human decency.Autism is not a choice, but how the staff chooses to respond to it is. Nissia Kamares, Owner at Nissia Kamares Hotel Apartments, responded to this review Dear Kacie,Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns about your stay with us.At Nissia Kamares, we take great pride in maintaining a peaceful and respectful environment for all our guests. With all due respect, the presence of your group (eleven people in total) during the first days of your stay clearly challenged our standard. We would like to make it absolutely clear that this was not the first, and certainly will not be the last, time we have happily hosted a child with autism. We fully respect your sensitivity regarding your child’s condition. However, the situation you describe was in no way connected to this, but rather to repeated disturbances from the entire party that disrupted other guests during late-night hours. You arrived two days after two other family friends had already checked in, and you joined them for the remainder of your holiday. On their first evening, members of the group were politely asked to lower their voices due to noise after midnight. Unfortunately, we received complaints from both neighboring rooms the following morning. On your arrival day, when the entire group gathered at the bar, the atmosphere was lively, perfectly fine for that setting, but since it was already past 1:00 a.m., two staff members at different times kindly reminded the group to remain quiet on their way back to their rooms. Later, while some members of the group were still in the courtyard, loud noise was again reported, and the night receptionist had to intervene once more with your group. When you returned to your room, around 1:30 a.m., your voice was clearly audible across the main courtyard and all three children were playing loudly. Not only was the level of your voices far beyond tolerance, but your windows and even the main door (!) were also wide open, causing major disturbance. Naturally, no child and certainly no condition could possibly be blamed for this incident. It was unpleasant, yet completely necessary for the manager to ask you in a fair but firm manner, to close the door and all windows (which appeared to go unnoticed at that time) and asked from you to quiet down yourself and to instruct all three children to reduce their noise. The comments you posted are a clear distortion of events, as he was neither aware of nor influenced by your child’s condition at that time (you had only been at the hotel for a few hours anyway). Furthermore, this was irrelevant to the situation, given that the noise involved all three children. Because several such incidents had already occurred within the group (all of them after midnight) and staff were unable to maintain quietness, we ultimately had no option but to contact the police the following day, simply to warn the entire group that further disturbances could result in removal from the property. This step, which was very upsetting for the group, was taken purely to protect everyone involved, not to penalize or expel anyone on the spot.Following that intervention, the rest of your stay was peaceful, which itself clearly shows that your child’s condition was always irrelevant to our warnings and the discomfort caused to all other guests. Therefore, not receiving any apology from any member of the group was expected, but turning autism into a manifesto on the hotel’s review page and claiming discrimination or mistreatment are entirely unfounded, to say the least. Thank you for your attention,Nissia Kamares Team

    Amazing again

6th visit, as usual was brilliant. The staff work so hard and are so friendly, in no order, Mairi, Krista, Stef, Katerina, Anna, Amarn,Sakis and of course the bosses Costas and Nasos. The cleaners and Stefanos and a guy whose name we don't know work hard to keep it super clean and the gardens beautiful. The pool area and bar are the best, the rooms are amazing and clean. I can go on and on. Already booked for next year.
