  We stayed here for 5 nights and were very pleased. Best things: good location, very large room, good quality bed, beautiful bed linen, really great view over the old Customs House and the Gulf of Izmir, breakfast included, good rate, room cleaned well. Always taxis outside the hotel. My suggestion: always ask in advance for a room with a view. If you don't ask, you very likely won't get!Our only complaint was that the room clearly wasn't properly checked with a check list by a responsible staff member before our arrival because of these problems: the fridge didn't work properly and was barely even cool (it was replaced by one exactly the same!), the shower head was damaged (but we managed fine using the lower flexible shower head), and for me - not my partner - the pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. However, that didn't prevent me having a very good night's sleep every night. We really loved the view especially as we were in all of one day when one of us was unwell. Note that the breakfast - though for me it was very good - doesn't cater too well for people with any kind of intolerance, e.g. lactose-intolerant. Also, the cereals weren't great quality. Everything else very good and for me, it was an excellent breakfast. They need to make it clear that you can order eggs. Nothing is said about that and we had to ask. It wasn't a problem and very good scrambled eggs were brought to us.Reception staff helpful although very little English spoken but we managed even when we had to report the above little problems.

  Disappointing Stay in a Sea-View Suite – Poor Maintenance and Insulation

  Negative side:We decided to stay at this hotel for two nights over the weekend and specifically booked a suite with a sea view. The sea view was indeed provided, however, there were several serious issues that significantly affected our stay.First of all, the suite had two balconies, but neither of the balcony doors was functioning. We immediately informed the reception. A technician came, opened the doors, and assured us that everything was fixed. During the day we kept them open and enjoyed the view. However, in the evening we closed the doors, and the next morning they would not open again. This clearly means the issue was not properly repaired.Aside from the balcony doors, the only other way to get fresh air into the room was through one small window in the bedroom. The following evening the room became too warm, so we decided to turn on the air conditioner. To my surprise, the air conditioning system was not working in cooling mode — it only worked for heating. Even though it is February, I believe that a 4-star hotel should provide both heating and cooling options.Because the balcony doors were not working, we could not properly ventilate the room. The hotel is located near a ferry (vapour) stop. On the first night this was not an issue, but on the second night a ferry was parked nearby with its engine running continuously until approximately 1:30 AM. To clarify, this was 1:30 in the middle of the night, not during the day. The noise from the engine was extremely loud. Even with the windows fully closed, the sound insulation was very poor, and the noise was clearly audible inside the room. For a suite in a 4-star hotel, especially one located near a ferry stop, proper soundproofing should be expected.The most unacceptable issue also happened around 1:30 AM during the night. We had turned on the air conditioner on a low heating setting just to circulate some air. Suddenly, instead of normal air, cigarette smoke began coming through the ventilation system. It smelled as if someone was smoking in another room, and the smoke was directly entering ours through the air system. The room was designated as non-smoking, yet it became filled with the smell of cigarettes. We had no proper way to ventilate the room because the balcony doors were not functioning, and opening the small window meant unbearable noise from the ferry.In the end, the situation became completely unbearable. At 2:00 AM, we packed our belongings and decided to leave the hotel and return home. We did not stay for breakfast because we simply needed to sleep, which was impossible under these circumstances. Changing rooms and waiting additional time in the middle of the night was not a reasonable option for us. Therefore, we made the decision to leave early and go back to our apartment to finally get some rest.For a 4-star hotel located in the center of Izmir, offering a suite category room, this level of maintenance, insulation, and air system management is unacceptable. Unfortunately, our planned relaxing weekend was significantly ruined, and I was very disappointed with our stay.Positive side:To mention the positive aspects, the room itself was actually quite nice. It featured a jacuzzi bathtub, which was a pleasant addition, and the sea view was truly beautiful. The room was clean and generally comfortable for staying. However, compared to the issues we experienced, these positive aspects were unfortunately only a small part of the overall experience.The breakfast was acceptable but rather limited. There were only three hot dishes available, while the rest consisted mainly of cold appetizers and snacks. In my opinion, for a 4-star hotel, there should be a wider variety of options offered at breakfast than what was provided.

  Stay at Kordon Pasaport Izmir

  Hotel is nicely located and our room had a nice view of the harbour. Breakfast was good and service was very good. Bed was comfortable. Our room was showing its age, shower head valve did not work (had to use shower wand), and if shower worked the shower head itself looked disgusting. Shower floor was spongy and chalking was deteriorating. Sink drain cover did not function (always closed), and mirror was delaminating and some of the chrome on fixtures had been worn off and the sink was crazed. For the price we paid would expect better, but still a better deal than other luxury chains, and the view is great.   The hotel was in a convenient location but needs some updates. It took maintenance awhile to get the reader to work so the lights would stay on in my room. The Turkish breakfast was excellent and on par with what other inclusive hotels offer. One bad note, I paid extra for a “sea view.” My room window faced a busy intersection not facing the water. If I looked out the corner between the buildings, I could barely see a patch of water.
