    Love this hotel.

Tarra has recently had a huge makeover with all rooms being updated but is still run by the same lovely family. Enjoy spacious comfort, air con, room safe and bathrooms with walk in showers. From a greeting at reception, friendly wait and housekeeping staff, you can start your holiday straight away. Choice of breakfast dishes, cereal, cold cuts, fresh fruit, unlimited coffee or bottled water taken in the breakfast room or on the deck overlooking the pool. Plenty of poolside beds to catch some rays and take a cooling dip, laze away your days or use Tarra as a base to explore this beautiful island. You will want to return the next year. Ten out of ten.

Lovely stay at a friendly hotel

    rating09 Sept 2025

We’ve been here a week, wish it was more. Sadly going home today. We’ve had a very relaxed week at the Tarra. The staff are all amazing, helpful and friendly. The hotel is almost finished its renovations so there’s a few bits needed to be done. Guessing it’ll be finished in the winter months. There are no works going on. It’s a very peaceful hotel. With plenty of sunbeds around the gorgeous pool area.We went out on 3 days of our stay. Lake Kournas on theTalos Express train you catch outside the hotel area.Chania old town and Rethymo. All beautiful places I would recommend. My only suggestion would be for a full length mirror just outside the bathroom. Other than that. All was perfect. ❤️

Lovely hotel just not quite finished

    rating07 Sept 2025

We arrived late at night and got dropped outside by transfer taxi.We couldn’t find the hotel at first as there is no sign on the entrance only away round the corner.Woman in the shop shouted to someone and a woman came out hotel very friendly and helped us in with our bags and showed us to our room.We were in 3032 which is next to the pool and the only way to get to it is by walking around the pool which seems a bit odd.Room is beautiful large with everything you need and a brilliant shower.Cleaned daily beds made etc by the dedicated team.Nice balcony overlooking pool.Would be better with frosted glass and a higher decide to the adjoining room balcony .Food good and fresh daily.Hotel is literally a 2 minute walk from the beach.Pool is lovely with plenty loungers , never full throughout our stay and very peaceful. Perhaps a little background chill out music would be nice.Bar area very underused , busy at breakfast then nothing , I had a beer a couple of nights when I had to find someone to pour it, it could be a bit more but you’re so close to town I guess it’s not important. With three days to go I caught an ear infection , on our last day I was told by six I shouldn’t fly .Spoke to Angelina who seems to run the hotel during the day, she’s a Bulgarian student . Extremely helpful and funny too.She couldn’t have been more helpful finding us a room for two nights and ensuring it was cleaned and ready for us to move our cases across .It was one of the luxury ‘swim up’ rooms .Massive room with patio door out onto patio next to pool (freezing!)No dividers between patio areas .The room was less finished than the other .Huge shower and I mean huge but no where to put bottles or soap other than on the floor.Double sinks very luxurious .For such a big room it felt very empty It needs more furniture or table and chairs to take up the space. Odd thing is the aircon is so close to the wardrobe the left door doesn’t open fully which is a shame for such a big room.Overall it is a lovely hotel , I wish they’d get rid of the artist impression photos from booking sites and actually show the hotel. The shop is next door also owned by them.Angelina really is the face of the hotel , we saw a couple of other people but usually the owner was sitting in her chair outside (she should interact with her guests more and a smile would help too!)Angelina is the person you’ll see most of and she’s really helpful .A lovely stay and would stay again

    Amazing Stay

    rating05 Aug 2025

Tana Seaside HotelThis hotel has been newly renovated to a high standard and is definitely worth visiting. It is expected to be fully completed next year, including a swimming pool and a rooftop bar.The staff are always on hand with a warm welcome and friendly smiles. This is a special place and certainly doesn’t feel like a typical hotel — it has its own unique charm.Everyone made our stay incredibly pleasant and enjoyable.Highly recommended from Mel and Paul Leeds

    What a gem

    rating04 Aug 2025

I’m not going to lie I was nervous as I don’t like staying anywhere less than a five star but luckily I don’t think they’ve reviewed the hotel since the refurb! The rooms, simply beautiful. The only thing I would have liked would have been a full length mirror and a wall hook for my sunhat. The bed and pillows were soooo comfortable. There was a hairdryer with a diffuser and an iron and a board in there. Basic tea and coffee facilities and a local wine in the fridge. The pool area was lovely, sunbeds extremely comfortable. The breakfast was second to none, fresh, the menu slightly switched up every day. The staff were so pleasant and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. I’m a great fan of boutique hotels and this one ticked every single box.
