Nice hotel let down by organisation and some staff

    rating28 May 2026

Unfortunately the food and main restaurant has really ruined our stay. A shame as the hotel itself has great potential and we are having fun as a family. The facilities are grrat and the general layout is quite good for the sight impaired guest and children in our party. But this aside we are still here and just want to go home and eat properly. The rooms and pool are fantastic so it is a real shame the food situation is so challenging. As a family visiting with a severely sight impaired guest and a neurodivergent child it has been overwhelming. The restaurants nothing shy of chaos. A complete free for all. Having stayed in many AI resorts over the years I have never struggled like we have here. No front of house to seat guests, no organisation. This means waiting staff just have no idea who needs drinks, what tables need setting and to be honest when I have asked for drinks (on the only 3 occasions I've managed to get a member of staff to acknowledge me) they have looked at me as if I am a huge burden. One even rolled her eyes at me! Trying to seat someone who can barely see in a chaotic restaurant with tables in the dark, not set, or clean is the first challenge. Then comes the food options. The food is adequate. Limited choices but cooked ok. Popular items and made to order items always have long quese in front of all the other food so its a nightmare seeing what's available for someone who can actually see, let alone having minimal vision and the food is long cold by the time you've got your way through. Popular foods just cant be cooked quick enough. Trays always empty with people waiting around. Pool bar offers the same thing every day chicken wing or cuts, chips, pizza, some fish and veg, burgers and onion rings. Not my thing but most people seem happy. The late afternoon jacket potatoes and waffles are very popular and really nice! We hold out for those!Real lack of nice fresh fruit. I was shocked theres no watermelon. Just apples, banana, orange slices and grapefruit.Patisseries extremely limited. Says it offers pastries, cakes and light bites but I've seen barely any pastries or light bites just one little thing on top of the counter and not proper pastries. Plus ice cream here if kids want it. No where else. This is the only place to eat between 9.30pm and mid night so if you can't face the restaurants you are going hungry. The mini market has no food other than crisps and chocolate and no food is allowed in the hotel from outside. Not that theres much around here. Our sea view room is beautiful, comfortable big 2 bedrooms and has everything we need. Its lovely and clean and one day our cleaner left a lovely towel and rose display which we loved. Warning though its very noisy until 11pm as you also face the entertainment stage and are over the top of a bar where bingo etc gets held. The hotel itself is really stunning and the pier is a really beautiful part of the resort. The walkway along the beach is well thought out and really helpful for disabled guests. The pool is freezing but we are really enjoying it. The slides are fun for all ages, however very limited opening times. Only 2 hours morning and afternoon and often shutting early. The life guards, some are really friendly and alert, others scrolling their phones...Pool bar staff most are really friendly, others not so interested. Only one so far has come over and actually offered our sight impaired guest a drink at the table. Mini club hasn't really been used but when the young lady comes round she's always really lovely to my youngest. Check in was easy and quick reception staff were really freindly despite late at night, our bags took up and shown all the air con and door switches etc. Overall I think if there was more organisation with seating guests at dinner and a better layout at the food counters for where fresh items are cooked (maybe at the end instead of in the middle) and a few more staff who want to be here and show willing to serve and a smile occasionally we would rate this hotel much higher and we would be tipping much more!

Not what I expected! Management- please consider the feedback. I felt my views were ignored by all your staff!

Royal Efes Sunis Hotel – Mixed ExperienceWe arrived at reception at 6:00am, and unfortunately check-in took longer than expected due to an issue with our room key. Despite arriving earlier and opting for a private transfer, guests who came later on the coach transfer were checked in before us, which was disappointing. The room itself was clean but quite basic and did not feel in line with a 5-star standard. Small details were missing, such as cotton buds, face towels, and tissues. The lighting could also be improved, as there are several bulky lamps taking up space instead of more practical ceiling lighting. The buffet restaurant layout felt quite dark and somewhat disjointed, almost like moving between separate rooms. Breakfast was acceptable, with made-to-order egg options available, but overall it didn’t reflect a premium or “platinum” experience.Lunch and dinner selections were quite repetitive. Each meal typically offered one beef, one fish, and one poultry option, but over the course of five days, the variety was limited, particularly for chicken, which was often wings or similar cuts rather than more common options like chicken breast. Turkish night initially felt no different from a regular evening, lacking themed dishes or atmosphere, although later in the stay there was an improved selection including roasted lamb and baklava.Fruit was served whole, which made it awkward to eat, and there was a noticeable lack of prepared fruit, softer fruits, or traditional Turkish desserts on most days. This was surprising for an all-inclusive stay in Turkey.Lunch mainly consisted of burgers, chips, grilled fish, and standard buffet items. Overall, the food quality and variety were underwhelming compared to expectations, and as a result, the dining experience became repetitive. The spa was a highlight, with a very pleasant massage experience. The gym was reasonably well equipped, although several machines were out of order, and there was no air conditioning, which made it uncomfortable.Around the pool and beach, there were plenty of sunbeds available, which was great. However, service at the pool bar was inconsistent service improved noticeably when tips were given. We inquired about cabanas several times: €120 for beach cabanas and €100 for poolside, including a bottle of wine, minibar, and fruit. Given the offering, it did not feel like good value for money.Guest services staff were friendly and willing to help, but they were often unable to resolve issues. I also spoke to the chef regarding the limited poultry options, but alternatives offered (such as turkey breast) did not quite address the concern.À la carte restaurants must be booked between 10am and 12pm, which is quite restrictive, and not all restaurants were open during our stay. Interestingly, when passing by in the evenings, they often appeared quiet. There were positives: the Irish bar and patisserie were both enjoyable, although the latter lacked savoury options such as sandwiches or pastries. In terms of location, there isn’t much nearby, so you are largely reliant on the hotel for dining. We visited Kuşadası via local bus (around 45 minutes and €4 per person), which was a pleasant trip and easy enough to navigate.WiFi was intermittent, although the hotel did not appear to be at full capacity during our stay, so this may vary. One additional note: as a Hindu guest, I found the dining options somewhat limited, which is worth considering for those with dietary preferences.Overall, this hotel felt closer to a good 3-4-star rather than a 5-star or “platinum” property. I did mention this to the Tui Rep but she seemed uninterested in my views. While there were some enjoyable aspects, particularly the spa and availability of sunbeds, the repetitive food, inconsistent service, and lack of attention to detail would make me unlikely to return. I would prefer to stay closer to Kuşadası in the future.
