Basic but great for out of season.

I stayed here in out of season and the staff were very friendly. It is a very basic apartment that has a few bits inside but ideal for a 5 night stay. Close to the beach and not far from downtown shops. I would stay again.

Lovely staff but not so clean

Just returned from 2 week stay in basils. It's family run and staff are great. Mustafa, Basils brother is a star, helping with everything and so pleasant. Basil is nice enough but definitely wants your money. On arrival we were asked for £20 for safety deposit box and £70+ for air conditioning. I said no to safety deposit box and he then asked for £10 instead so straight away we gave about £80 to basil. The room was not exactly clean, mildew all up shower door, dust on things and basically poor standard of cleanliness, I went straight to shop to buy bleach spray which made me feel a it better. The air con is only in bedroom and not sitting area. We were never given toilet rolls the whole stay and bought our own. Lots of noisy Dutch teenagers arrived with little respect for anyone, sitting at edge of pool smoking whilst dangling their legs in the water. The pool is only small and it put us off going in because of this. The music was played very loud in the day around the pool so perhaps this hotel is more suited to younger ones. The cleaner also asked outright for money when we where leaving, she simply said " cleaning money" . They did kindly let us use a room to shower as we had late flight. Location was great, not long to get to centre of marmaris. They had a Turkish night with all you can eat buffet for £10, this was great apart from 2 sets of belly dancers which you were expected to shove money down their skirt/trousers, nevertheless a pleasant evening. All in all, you get what you pay for, so if your 20-30 and out for a good time then basils is for you, but don't forget the bleach spray.
