Grand Cettia Hotel Review: A Family’s Perspective

    rating31 May 2026

Having enjoyed two previous stays at the Grand Cettia, our family of four recently concluded our third visit, which will ultimately be our last. While we typically booked for ten nights, certain aspects of this experience have prompted us to reconsider future visits.Sun Loungers and Pool ExperienceOne of the primary challenges during our stay was the limited availability of sun loungers. To secure a spot, you need to arrive by 6 AM, as loungers fill up quickly. This early morning rush created a competitive atmosphere that detracted from the relaxing holiday vibe we had hoped for. Additionally, the hotel enforces a policy that prohibits leaving towels unattended until after 7 AM.The pools themselves are a good size, but around 3:30 PM, they host water polo games, which can be quite rough. If you’re seated near the slide stairs, be cautious, as the ball often comes flying towards you with force.Bar Service and AmenitiesThe bar opens at 10 AM, which is understandable for alcoholic beverages; however, the absence of soft drinks during the morning hours is disappointing. Families often appreciate having access to soft drinks and juices early in the day, especially as they prepare for activities.Interaction with JakopAn unsettling incident occurred one evening involving a staff member named Jakop, which significantly impacted our experience. While I was seated alone at a table of four, with my children participating in the kids’ disco and my husband at the bar, Jakop approached me in a manner that felt intrusive and confrontational. He inquired about our departure plans, and when I mentioned that we hadn’t decided whether to stay for bingo, he repeated the question with an attitude that made me uncomfortable. The reason for Jakop’s inquiry was that the hotel was experiencing a shortage of tables, which is not the guests’ fault. His dismissive demeanor, including rolling his eyes when I clarified that there were four of us seated at the table, left me feeling intimidated and diminished my desire to remain to the bar. When my husband returned and learned of the situation, he understandably felt compelled to defend me. He approached Jakop to ask why he seemed to be pressuring me to leave, emphasizing that it was none of his business when we decided to depart. Jakop’s response was to suggest my husband involve the manager, which escalated the situation further. While the manager who ultimately came to speak with us was kind and understanding, the initial encounter with Jakop overshadowed our enjoyment of the evening. The incident left us feeling unwelcome and discouraged from participating in hotel activities thereafter. It’s disheartening when a single staff member’s behavior negatively impacts a guest’s experience, especially when the rest of the team appeared friendly and accommodating.Dining and Snack Bar ExperienceThe snack bar often had lengthy queues, with wait times reaching 20-30 minutes at various times throughout the day. This was particularly frustrating during peak hours when hunger levels were high. Dining in the main restaurant felt chaotic; it was difficult to navigate the various lines, and the food selection was limited. I found myself primarily consuming rice and pasta, while the children were less enthusiastic about dinner options, often resorting to chips. A more diverse menu with more options would greatly enhance the dining experience for families with varying tastes. The snack bar operates at specific times: • Breakfast (8 AM - 10 AM): omelettes, fried eggs, and delicious pancakes • Lunch (12 PM - 2 PM): burgers, chips, nuggets, and hotdogs • Afternoon (2:30 PM - 5 PM): the same items plus pizzaThe limited menu options could benefit from more variety, especially for those with different dietary preferences.Spa and Service QualityThe spa, tattoo, and hairdressing staff tended to be quite pushy regarding upgrades and additional services. While we appreciated their enthusiasm, it sometimes felt overwhelming. Nevertheless, we enjoyed a lovely Turkish bath experience, with attentive staff who provided excellent service. We tipped the girls after our Turkish bath as they gave us an amazing experience, but be careful and discreet, as the spa manager does not like this. I also encountered pricing discrepancies for tattoo services, as quotes were nearly equivalent to those in my home country. However, my husband’s deposit was transferred off my remaining balance at the tattoo parlor, which was a pleasant surprise. After exploring other local options, I found a significantly cheaper alternative nearby. The staff at the tattoo parlor were understanding when my husband decided against his initial booking, showcasing a commendable level of professionalism. Their willingness to accommodate his decision was refreshing and appreciated.I am so pleased with my tattoos; they did a brilliant job. They made me feel very relaxed and even stopped for breaks when needed. They are extremely good at what they do, and I would definitely return for more. Their prices are also very fair and reasonable.Entertainment and ActivitiesThe entertainment team deserves special recognition for their engaging and friendly demeanor. Barney and his team fostered an enjoyable atmosphere, enhancing our overall experience. Their ability to connect with guests through games, activities, and evening shows created a vibrant environment that appealed to both adults and children. The kids particularly enjoyed the themed nights and interactive activities, which contributed positively to our family vacation. The kids’ club, catering to children aged 4-12, operates from 10 AM to 12 PM and again from 2 PM to 5 PM, providing ample opportunity for younger guests to engage in supervised activities. This aspect was a highlight for our children, allowing them to make friends and enjoy their time away from us.Accommodation QualityOur family room in the exterior building was spacious, though the balcony felt small. The accommodation was clean, with daily towel changes and a generally pleasant environment. However, we faced disturbances from the upstairs neighbors, whose noise continued late into the night. This disrupted our sleep and made it difficult for the children to rest. Additionally, I recommend bringing your own cups, as only paper ones are provided, which can be quite inconvenient for families wanting to enjoy beverages in their room.Shopping ConsiderationsWe found the hotel shop to be overpriced, with inflated prices on essential items. A more sensible shopping option includes the Lushs’ shop down the hill at Cettia Apartments or a Migros store located about a 15-minute walk away. These alternatives offered better pricing and a wider selection of groceries and necessities, making it easier to manage our family’s needs during our stay.Final ThoughtsReflecting on our experience at the Grand Cettia, it’s clear that while there were enjoyable aspects—such as the engaging entertainment team and the relaxing Turkish bath—several challenges significantly impacted our overall satisfaction. The issues regarding sun lounger availability, dining chaos, and the unsettling interaction with Jakop left us feeling that improvements are needed for a more family-friendly experience. We hope the management considers these areas for enhancement, as the potential for a great family holiday is evident. For now, we will be exploring other options for our future holidays, hoping to find a destination that aligns better with our family’s needs and expectations.

    Fab!

    rating31 May 2026

Honestly, last October we came to this hotel. We found it was fantastic. Small enough for young families. We had a 3 year old and 8 year old. Wanted to be able to see them all times. We loved it so much that we came back for may 2026, it felt like home. We were so welcomed by entertainment, the bond John and Deniss with us all is something we take back to wales and look forward to next time. The constant good banter and really happy atmosphere.Food on for children constantly, drinks; snacks, cakes. And a massive thank you to ONUR, he made us feel so welcome! He served us from our first day to our last, having constant banter with our family, making sure we had everything we needed.Drinks to hand whenever they were empty.Looked out for us and felt like he enjoyed our company too.We had a family room first time which is perfect for young families: with a massive balcony so that we could return and watch entertainment from our room if the little ones got tired. This time we had a standard room! Smaller but more than enough for the time we spent in them.I would say value for money is really good, constant drinks and food. With themed nights, tapas. A bbq girl, snack bar, ice cream. Cake shop.Cleanliness for me was really good, our lovely cleaner always made a fuss of our room, down to folding anything we left out. We had a safe we paid £15 for too, I think it’s included in the family room but we paid the standard room which is just for the extra caution.Location is fab, steep hill to get up but little ramps for pushchairs and elevators. There is entertainment on till 11, but once we closed our doors we couldn’t hear anything. We paid the extra £5 for another key card. Do it! Keep your air con on allll day, because night time that room is cold! If you take your key card out the electricity etc will go out.( was good to charge the girls tablets for evening ( 3 years old) fuss pot. I’d reconnect this holiday!I would say it’s well worth getting up a little early for a good Sunbed! Especially if you got young ones. Mind the floors they can be little slippery but turkey is just full of marble floors.Your children will soon feel like home, we booked to come again In October 2026.❤️

Overall, a pleasant stay with some areas for improvement.

    rating30 May 2026

This was our first visit to Marmaris, as we usually stay on the Antalya side. We travelled during half term, so prices were higher than usual.Transfer and Jet 2The transfer from Dalaman took 1 hour and 15 minutes with Jet 2. Although we arrived at 1:30 am and the bars and food were closed, the hotel provided a welcoming atmosphere but sadly no food or drinks left for late arrivals. We then left before dinner started on the last day even though our flight was 23:30!RoomsThe room was compact, featuring two single beds and a double sofa bed for our family of four. We were on the 5th floor with a lovely sea view and balcony. The walls were thin, and the mattresses were quite firm, which I personally prefer. The sofa bed was a bit worn, but our children didn’t notice. There were only two plugs in the room, which was a bit inconvenient, and the bathroom was quite old and dark. The hotel provides two bottles of water in the mini-bar, and there are refill stations in the restaurants. The safe is available for £15 a week.PoolsThe swimming pool was pleasant, though a bit chilly at the end of May. The hotel was quite busy, so securing a sun bed required some effort, but the staff were accommodating and managed to provide us with additional beds.SpaThe spa offered excellent value for money. I enjoyed a Turkish bath and massage, along with two additional massages, all for just over £100. The indoor pool was slightly warm, and the sauna was available for free.BarsBar service varied, with some staff being particularly friendly. The gin and vodka were satisfactory, and the cocktails were enjoyable, though made with juices that could be of better quality. Wine was standard Turkish wine, and while there was no drink service at dinner, the outside bar was easily accessible. Faruk was especially friendly and attentive.CleanlinessThe hotel maintained a reasonable level of cleanliness. The maid service was prompt, making the beds daily, although the kids’ bed might not have been changed every day. The hotel provides a white sheet and a gold rug-type cover instead of duvets.EntertainmentEntertainment options were limited, with a few recurring shows (Ethiopian dance show twice in a week) and activities. The entertainment team, including the two girls, Barney, Deniz, and the bald one, were fantastic and genuinely enthusiastic about engaging with guests. Their efforts were commendable despite the limited budget they seem to have for shows.RestaurantThe ala carte fish restaurant was closed for the week. Breakfast featured delicious omelettes and pancakes prepared outside, while the indoor buffet offered a standard selection. Lunch and dinner were consistent, with themed nights like pizza and tapas. The food was generally fine, though it lacked some flavour. The menu catered well to the British market, and the chefs did a commendable job with the resources available.TransportationBus stops are conveniently located outside the hotel, costing 50 lira each. Taxis are reasonably priced at about 5-10 euros per trip. There is also a free shuttle bus to the beach in the next town, which requires purchasing drinks to sit there. However, the beach in Marmaris offers similar amenities, with some bars being even better.Local shops are reasonably priced, with Carrefour providing a wide range of products at good value.Overall, Jet 2 markets the hotel as a 4-star property, I would say it’s more 2.5 stars and while it may feel a bit dated, the staff’s friendliness and dedication significantly enhance the guest experience.

    Not worth the money

    rating28 May 2026

On arrival to the hotel we was given a standard room the room was outdated WiFi issues with connection we went down to the front desk to change room we wasn’t given a room change for we had to wait a few days before we was changed.family rooms was basic again we had WiFi issues and the telephone wasn’t working so we couldn’t contact reception that took a while to resolve we had a birds nest with a dead bird init we had blood stains on sheets and duvet that took two days to get it replaced we had to speak to housekeeping ourselves the shower was broken when we went down to the front desk that wasn’t resolved we had to speak to the maintenance ourselves for it to be resolved same with the sink it was blocked and the plug didn’t work properly we also had to speak to maintenance ourselves for that to be resolved when we spoke to the manager she resolved it straight away we shouldn’t have to escalate it to the manager front of house should of resolved that some of the staff didn’t understand. The pool is to overcrowded no lifeguards on duty as a qualified lifeguard I had to execute to rescues while I was in the pool.pool staff didn’t seem to care I shouldn’t have to execute two rescues while I was on holiday entertainment team great front of house staff are great all staff are great. We went to the shop on site that is far to expensive when your all inclusive not enough sun beds for the amount of guests within the hotel and people reserve them and you can’t get a bed to relax by the pool kids kicking football around the pool jumping on pool tables and my niece got attacked by another child with a ping pong bat . Spa to expensive for the package. Food wasn’t great not enough choice. Laundry facilities basic not worth the money as a washer was out of order also to expensive the overall experience of the hotel was 2 doors slamming late at night tv you had to pay for which is not fair when we have paid a lot of money to stay in the hotel there should be packages for family rooms overall the stay was 2.
