    Value-for-money stay for Media City and University District

    Stayed here as part of a nearby conference (this wasn't the official hotel but it was my great find) and wasn't disappointed. It is more walkable than the maps make it look, and the hotel itself does the job. Highlights include the hotel breakfast which has something for everyone and the rooms. We had a nice bath which was great to unwind. We didn't use the pool as it was not warm enough (and windy/dusty) and to be honest, its location is a bit weird. You are essentially swimming as entertainment for all the restaurant diners and woul dhave to walk through them, dripping wet or not wearing much, to get back to the lifts and to your room!The Executive Lounge is probably the biggest disappointment. I'm not a drinker and I know it's UAE, but the scope of alcoholic drinks here would disappoint many Accor members who can access the lounge. The food on offer is basic (cheese, bread etc) and some odd hot foods (Western) which I think is done to appease foreigners but honestly, they are coming from countries that do this food better. Serve local foods and it would be much more appreciated! We were there on some designated rain days and that seems to impact traffic enormously for a few hours. There is a gas station next door and some eateries in case of emergency as Uber Eats all but shut down during one such rain event. There is a nightly chocolate tasting hour but it's not much to be honest. I think they do it because they have to (Mövenpick) but the guy doesn't seem that much into it and neither do the guests as we were one of only two who turned up to try it!The hotel got evacuated during our stay for a fire (false alarm) but credit to the staff for handling it well, although many of them didn't seem to know what to do so many guests just took it upon themselves to mobilise.

    We were unfortunately caught up in the Iran War and travel disruption. Courtesy of Emirates we were allocated to the Grand Plaza Movenpick Media City Hotel. Despite the traumatic experience we encountered this hotel was a godsend. The hotel is lovely modern spacious and most of all the management and staff looked after us and made up for the travel disruption. We stayed here for 5 days and all the staff were outstanding and we will always be grateful for thier care and support. In particular thanks to the following: Annan, Chao, Suresh, Raja, Anna and Mido to mention a few. Thank you again and we will always remember you being there for us at a time tha really mattered.
