    Don’t Blame the Staff…..

    ….Blame the management! A great hotel, good vibe and lovely rooms, typically the W brand, but poorly managed in a crises. I took my wife and our two young adults for a chilled 2 night staycation. The price was competitive, but not cheap, and all was going well until the greedy management team opened up the doors on Saturday to the Day Pass crowd. I’ve been one of them in the past so I get it, and sure the pool deck gets busy when day trippers come in, but, the hotel is running on 50% staffing levels (a senior manager told me) so why offer Day Passes and flood the hotel with guests on a Saturday when your team can’t cope? The only motivation was for money.. sure everyone has suffered these past few weeks, and particularly the hospitality industry, but when it takes ONE HOUR, to get water served to your table and 50 minutes for a sandwich to be made, at lunchtime, you know something is wrong. First world problems I hear you yell, sure, but we have lived here in Dubai through the crises too and we were hoping for a nice relaxing chilled vibe, not a screaming match on the beach as many guests were equally upset. The staff? Amazing and coped well in a crises, so well done to the soldiers in the front line. As for the managers running the hotel, I suggest you read the management training manual again, particularly the part that says - put the customers before profit. Shame, it spoiled our weekend.

    I dont think this happens a lot and i believe they had tried their best to handle the situation. We probably had the worst check in experience so far. We arrived at the roundabout at 215pm and stuck in the line for not less than 40 minutes before we reached the entrance. Check in time took longer than usual and we had to wait until 530pm until our room is ready. But hey, they upgraded our room and let us checked out as late as 6pm the next day so we’re not complaining! Love love love the terrace! Very spacious and clean. The room is amazing i love the squishy bed and the wall is vibrant pretty much like W Kuala Lumpur if i can still remember. Dinner buffet at Olivino was not bad. I think there was not much varieties of main meals but my son loved the grilled lamb so much. Breakfast buffet was great! So many options from arabic, western, asian and desserts! I also love the fact that they readily provided paper cups at the self service coffee machine for takeaways. Have to admit ive never been a fan of W’s pools. Since it was opened for the day-passers, it was a teeny bit too crowded for us. Overall, we love our stay at W The Palm! Yes we had a tiny hiccup in the beginning but theres always a first time for everything.

    Travelled during the Middle East crisis and to say the least after a very horrible check in experience, Carmin from the W and the Mariott program redeemed the W with their quick response to my experience and and quickly changed the trajectory of my holiday.The hotel was quiet but fully functional.Lobby staff friendly and the pool staff friendly. The other staff not so much.The hotel made sure that all amenities were fully operational even though the hotel during the week was not full.The hotel is quite far out from most of the restaurants and activities and do not have a shuttle so budget accordingly if you are not hiring a car.The rooms are stylish, clean and comfortable; definitely what you expect from The W Iuliia Kutsaia, Other at W Dubai - The Palm, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
