A Masterclass in Neglect (And Avian Geometry

    rating12 Sept 2026

)?If you enjoy paying strictly by card in a sauna-hot hotel while watching beer garden tables collect empty glasses for six-plus hours under an active flight path, this is the place for you.?Room allocation here is a total lottery. We had a fridge in our room, while others in our party who booked the exact same room category were left without one. The tired bedroom featured rock-hard beds, and attention to detail was non-existent: previous guests' used towels were left hanging in the wardrobe, the kettle was full of stale water, and the window featured an absurd sign warning us not to open it past 10cm to keep "wild birds" out—as if local sparrows strictly carry measuring tapes before attempting a break-in.?Public area hygiene was no better, featuring fresh chewing gum trodden into hallway carpets and a dried clump of toilet paper on the gents' bathroom wall that had clearly been there for a while.?Dinner was a rigid, chaotic buffet where table clearing was a bizarre spectator sport—staff would walk over empty-handed, pick up precisely one plate from a tower of dirty dishes, and abandon the rest. Evening staff were unsmiling, devoid of energy, and treated four coach loads of guests like a massive chore. Entertainment was dumped in a plain, stageless conference suite with no bar, no service, and no background music anywhere in the hotel to build an atmosphere.?Breakfast was the sole silver lining—a standard cooked/continental buffet with silent bar TVs turned on and a happier morning team who were likely just relieved to see the back of us.?Between being stranded in Bucksburn (£20 Uber to Aberdeen), unannounced cashless policies, and total managerial apathy, it was a thoroughly miserable stay. Absolutely dismal. richard liptrott, General Manager at Britannia Aberdeen Hotel, responded to this review Dear GuestIm sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us and i have to say some of your remarks are plain rude. The staff do their best when we are dealing with over 200 guests. Plates utilised for Dinner are not dirty and we serve the best we can. Entertainment area is a nicely refurbished lounge area and the bar is only 20 yards walk away not really a chore!.Fridges are not advertised as standard in rooms so if you had one surely thats a bonus for yourselves. I will say that yes sometimes we are let down by the cleanliness of some bedrooms and we are doing what we can to deal with this.We have been cashless for some time ( over 2 years) as are all Britannia hotels and this is well advertised. We cannot change our location and most guests realise that when they book with us that we are closer to the airport so there is obviously going to be noise.Sorry you didnt enjoy yourself.

    One night stay

    rating09 Sept 2026

Stayed last night with Alfa Travel to see Andre Rieu at P&J live. Our rooms were on the 1st floor, we booked 2 singles and one double which was a bit more expensive. They were all two single beds pushed together.Very big rooms with en suite, shower over bath. Adequate for our 1 night stay.Dinner was buffet style, as there were around 6 bus tours in the food went quickly but was quickly replaced. We all enjoyed our 3 courses.Staff all pleasant and helpful. Being close to the Airport there was a few planes passing. Breakfast was buffet style too but what we had was very tasty. We would happily stay here again if visiting for a show. richard liptrott, General Manager at Britannia Aberdeen Hotel, responded to this review Dear GuestThank you for your comments regarding your recent stay with, yes that evening/Morning was logistically a difficult one for us with over 300 people in the hotel. I am pleased that yourself and from what i understand the majority of guests that we had that night enjoyed themselves.Kind regards

    Can't Complain for the Price

    rating26 Aug 2026

Stayed here for a night between flights. I usually stay at one of the airport hotels, but when I found a room at the Britannia for £25, I had to give it a try.Location is handy enough for the airport- the 727 stops at the end of the road, or its about £20 by taxi. Less convenient for the city centre. There's a few shops nearby and a nice pub across the road. The hotel itself is very basic, but fine for a short stay. My room was dated but clean and everything worked, although the bed was a bit hard for my liking. The shower pressure was good and there were no issues with shower pressure.Public areas could do with a bit of work - the bar in particular had a works canteen feel to it. Overall, its a basic budget hotel that is never going to be "good", but it offers excellent value and does exactly what it says on the tin. I'd stay again if the price was right. richard l, General Manager at Britannia Aberdeen Hotel, responded to this review Good Morning. Many thanks for your feedback from your recent stay with us, it is good to hear that we still represent good value for money for people staying for 1 or more nights. We are continually looking at ways to improve our offering to our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.Kind regards

Basic stay if you don't want luxury

    rating13 Jul 2026

Stayed three nights on a coach trip to Balmoral. The hotel looks worse than it actually is. I am a relatively fussy eater but I found the food was hot and of decent quality. Value for the price. I did not enjoy the seating arrangements, more like boarding school! but this was probably due to the coach trip experience. Waiting staff were quick and overworked...and looked it!Carpets etc are generally tired and badly fitted.Beds were clean but both the bed and the pillows were extremely hard and I suffered with my back. The attitude of the reception staff woman left a lot to be desired. Our room looked onto a flat roof which was covered in debris, cans, old socks etc....nobody showed any interest when I mentioned this. The cost of the trip reflected the quality of the hotel but I have to say for a 3 star I have been in worse! richard l, General Manager at Britannia Aberdeen Hotel, responded to this review HiThank you for your feedback from your recent stay with us, as you understand due to space we have to feed the coach groups together so we can have space for other groups and individuals. We do have standard pillows on all beds throughout the hotel which are not to everyones taste.I hope you enjoyed the majority of your trip and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.Kind regards
