The hotel is situated in the leafy West End of Aberdeen, an area of outstanding beauty and the gateway to Royal Deeside. The hotel is one mile from the A90 and a 10-minute drive from the cosmopolitan centre of Aberdeen which is steeped in history with a vast array of museums and art galleries as well as offering fantastic shopping and a vibrant nightlife scene. Public transport lies right by the hotel and the airport is within easy reach, only 20 minutes away.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1850. The hotel welcomes guests in a 3-storey building with a lift and 36 non-smoking rooms. The reception desk is open round the clock. A cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. There are a number of shops as well.     A Beautiful Venue, But a Disappointing Anniversary Stay

    I’m sorry to say our stay at Norwood Hall was a real mix of emotions. My wife and I were married here in May 2016, and I booked a room and dinner reservation to celebrate our ten-year anniversary. During booking, we were asked the purpose of our stay, and the restaurant also asked if there were any special considerations, so we naturally hoped the occasion might be acknowledged in some small way.Unfortunately, we were disappointed that there was no welcome card in the room, no “happy anniversary,” and no acknowledgement at dinner either. When I asked the restaurant staff if we could have one dessert to share because it was our anniversary, nothing was said — we were simply given two spoons.The room itself was pleasant overall, but there were a few maintenance issues that stood out, including scuffs and marks on the walls and a bathroom air-conditioning unit that looked close to coming away from the wall.That said, the building and grounds are still beautiful, and it was lovely to walk around somewhere that holds so many memories for us. However, we left feeling disappointed that despite making the occasion known in advance, no effort was made to make our return feel special ten years later.For comparison, during a stay in Vienna the week before, we mentioned our anniversary when booking and arrived to find a handwritten card, chocolates, and a bottle of bubbly waiting in the room. It really highlighted how much the small touches matter.It’s the little things that make a special occasion memorable.     Booked Inchgarth Suite for our golden wedding anniversary.Perfect size for small party of friends and family.Food was excellent as was the service,nothing seemed too much trouble.Most of us stayed and thought rooms were very nice.Lovely grounds on the outskirts of the city we felt it represented good value for money.As always though it’s the staff that count because without them it’s just basically an old building.Heres hoping management appreciate that Katrina Wardrop, General Manager at Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to leave a lovely review.I really appreciate you taking the time to mention the staff, as I wholeheartedly agree that they they really do make the place what it is.I am pleased you enjoyed the food, rooms and grounds.Kind RegardsKatrina

    Nice enough Norwood

    This is an olde worldly hotel set in small but well kept grounds. Our twin room was large and comfortable. The bathroom had a bath and a very large shower with Elemis shower gel, shampoo and soap. Tea and coffee in the room but no biscuits which was a miss. The inside of the hotel was old and charming with a cosy bar and other rooms to sit and chill out quietly. The dining room for breakfast was also nice and a good full Scottish was served, other usual choices available. All the staff were nice and welcoming. We had food in the bar on the evening which was ok but very expensive. The room prices are good so they have to make their money back somewhere. Overall we would recommend this hotel.     Fantastic location and staff were amazing. We loved staying here. Room was spacious. Breakfast was excellent and all cooked fresh. Grounds beautiful.     Fantastic weekend at Norwood

    Just back from a lovely stay at Norwood, I rarely leave reviews but we are so impressed with the service, atmosphere, room and above all the staff. Kat checked us in after a long drive from Leeds and looked after all our requests during our stay, Kat is the BEST! Always warm, welcoming and attentive nothing was too much. We stayed for nights over Easter weekend with our Cockerpoo Minnie 🐶 The hotel itself is set in beautiful grounds and the interior decor is truly breathtaking. Our room was spacious, clean & comfortable. There is even a room service menu for your pooches! Minnie was given a blanket and treats which were put in our room prior to arrival. The food is soo good, we dined in the bar on night one and had room service on night 2 as we had enjoyed an 8 mile hike during the day so didn’t want to move after a bath!
