    Exceeded expectations. Excellent people

    rating08 Sept 2022

Having read some reviews I was a little concerned. Those concerns proved to be unfounded and we had a great stay. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful or nicer. We stayed as party of a coach tour on a Dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The food was generally good and varied. Our 2nd floor room was a good size and near the lift. While some carpets are beginning to show their age the decor was pleasent and everywhere was clean and tidy.Very good location a mile from Central Belfast and very close to the excellent Ulster museum and botanical gardens. The owners of this family run hotel admitted that the government occasionally take over the hotel completely to house people. They star is the staff and owners who worked tirelessly to make our stay smooth and enjoyable.

    Stay away filthy

    rating19 Aug 2022

This hotel was extremely filthy. Room smelled as soon as you open the door. Figured out window opened to the trash dump under the window. The cause of the smell. One bed was dirty and needed changed also had tears in the sheets. Bathroom was filthy hair on counter sink and floor. Shower head was moldy and no place to put toiletries. Very hot upon entering. Asked for fan which they didn't provide. I think it was a heater was broken and leaning against the wall. Room was very dark even with lights on. Toilet ran constantly. Even had someone look at it and still ran loudly all night. Fire alarm went off about midnight due to a drunk person pulling it. Party down in the parking lot. Loud for hours which kept us up. Just disgusting. Would never stay there again or recommend to anyone. Will be asking for our money back as that was not even a 1 star hotel let along a 4 as it should have been. I was afraid to touch anything let alone stay there for one night. Everyone had issues. Additionally this is a very old hotel. Carpets old in rooms and lobby. Pulling up in many places and stains. Skip it and stay somewhere else.

    Disappointed

    rating30 Jul 2022

My family and I stayed here in June, the location was great but the facilities were poor, on arrival in the car park the plantings were in dire need of attention, the flooring at the entrance was threadbare, they do not provide meals, not even breakfast, so we will not be returning,

Very pleasant surprise in a beautiful part of Belfast

    rating17 Jun 2022

I visited Belfast last week for an Iron Maiden concert, and found that the the hotels I usually stay at in Belfast were all full, so I booked the Wellington Park, even though it wasn't as "Central" as I'd have liked. Well that was a blessing in disguise, as it introduced me to the absolutely beautiful Queens Quarter, with the Botanical Gardens and Queens University literally a one minute walk from the hotel. I wouldn't be the biggest fan of Central Belfast, so this was a real breath of fresh air. The hotel itself is nice and welcoming, staff very friendly, the man at the reception desk was a real character and made me feel so welcome in Belfast, and who can argue with a pint bottle of Magners for £4.80 in a hotel bar! All in all somewhere I'll stay again, because I want to have a proper look around the Queens Quarter. Highly recommended!

A bizarre journey back to the 1980s

    rating07 Sept 2021

Staying at the Wellington Park is a bizarre experience, it is literally a journey back to the 1980s as it's clear that no investment has been made in this hotel for decades. Room size was good, and it was generally clean. Unfortunately had some quite noisy neighbours who were banging their doors until the early hours (think it was a group of young people). Well located for the university district. Overall rating is somewhere between average and mediocre, I'll be generous and give it average.
