    Dirty, small and hot

    rating12 Jun 2026

This place is hideous, be warned. I booked it thinking the usual ‘you know what you’re getting with a Travelodge.’ We were only in town a few days and had lots booked so I figured we wouldn’t be in the room much so no point going somewhere fancy, may as well book something cheap cheerful and central. But I regret that now. The room was filthy and smelled pretty bad. We opened the window which was in the corner behind the desk and the window was covered in bird poo and had barely any airflow in. The ‘view’ was into a sort of courtyard with walls on all four sides and tightly packed. You could just about see a bit of sky if you looked up. It was so hot at night even with the window open it made it hard to sleep. Outside temperature was around 14-18 when we were there so wasn’t even hot outside. When we did try to close the window it wouldn’t even shut all the way. The room was basic. There was a desk and rail but other than that there were no bedside tables or shelves so a lot of our things had to sit on the dirty floor. The bathroom was grim. There was a mental rod for the towels to sit on that was so close to the loo that my husband hit his face the first time he went to the loo. Other than that there were no hooks to hang towels up once used so we had to get new towels each day. The left luggage cupboard is a joke and the reception area is basic as hell. Just grim and I’m mad I paid as much as I did to have that filthy experience. Everything went on a hot wash as soon as we got home. Would not return

    rating11 May 2026

Would not stay again. I have stayed in many Travelodge across the Uk and this is by far the worst. Rooms on first sight look fine but they are tried, grubby and the bathrooms desperately need an upgrade. I could only get hot water 1 out of 3 nights of my stay in the shower. Windows are so thin that it sounds like they are open and even from the top floor you can hear every sound from outside. One night someone must have been smoking in one of the surrounding rooms as my room stank of smoke. The only thing saving it is the location close to the station and the town hall. Also staff always friendly. Stay in the Leonardo or Maldron instead. Garry Gaynor, General Manager at Travelodge Belfast Central, responded to this review Dear Claire T,Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Please accept my apologies for the problems you encountered during your stay. Please be assured I will review the issues highlighted with my team.kind regardsGeneral Manager
