Free tea, nice and simple accomodation

    rating08 Apr 2025

Brilliant hostel, I have been there regularly to attend training in B'ham or coming back from travel when missing trains. Didn't mind me arriving late. Good strong hot showers, fairly clean surroundings, decent sized lockers. One of the appeals to me is the free tea and coffee - which after 6 hour rail replacement ordeals or international flights, are a Godsend. The first two times here I have had to leave early (pre-breakfast) for an exam. This time I have snuck in breakfast, which is a decent amount of 2 pieces of free fruit, and toast with a variety of toppings. I would love if they had free fruit available before 7 for occasional early risers. This time I stayed on the top bunk, and tbh as a wriggly sleeper, I would like crash matt or a bit higher barrier. I've fallen that far from bouldering walls, and it's at fall and possibly hurt yourself level. None the less, its a very comfy mattress, and I made a barrier out of my water bottle so it was fine. Beds are comfy, pillows are fluffy, duvet is decent -even in January/Febuary. The curtain and layout feels very safe and private. One thing to remember about hostels is they cannot escape the problems of their environment - most evenings its fairly quiet for a city - friday/ saturday there is a club around the corner, which is something to bear in mind if you have to get up early and concentrate the next day. It's very central and very walkable from new street (takes about 10 minutes), and the downstairs area feels very safe, even open 24/7 in an innercity hostel which is impressive. I think the open plan view from reception helps. Anyway it's been reliably good.

    Superb Hostel

    rating10 Jan 2025

Great hostel. The staff was super helpful and accomodating during my stay. The rooms, kitchen, bathroom and social area were always kept clean, and there's a high level of privacy with the bed/pods (curtains are thermal so it's nice and warm, and you get a good night's sleep). There's a complimentary breakfast every morning, along with free tea and coffee available 24 hours. Birmingham New Street is only 10 minutes away walking. I highly recommend this hostel for anyone seeking a safe, clean, and welcoming experience in Birmingham.

    Very good experience

    rating18 Nov 2024

I stayed here for 1 night as a quick emergency sleep. As I had to be in Birmingham City centre early the next day. Checked in around 6pm. Checking was easy. Was a bit overwhelmed at first sharing a dorm with complete strangers. But I spoke to a few people. All nice people & the rooms is pay what you get for. But the beds are really comfortable. There's loads of dorms. I was in a mixed 15 bed doom. I paid just under 20 quid. If you want a cheap expeince and something to do I recommmed you stay here for a few days. 1 day isn't enough time to get to know the place. I defo will be staying again in due course for a few days. It's about 20 minute walk from New Street Station or via uber around 10 minutes.Ricki stayed 19/11/2024

Good hostel spoilt by loud music.

    rating17 Nov 2024

Hostel is located in a somewhat scruffy area very close to Digbeth coach station. However it is modern and welcoming with friendly staff. All guest facilities are of a good standard. What let's it down is the non stop pop music played in the lounge/dining area at an intrusive volume. It makes reading or casual chat very difficult.

    A perfect hostel experience.

Very welcoming staff. I was immediately able to feel comfortable with my decision to stay here. Spartan, but they have captured the essentials in a hostel experience. While the beds were basic, I was able to draw my curtain and read after a long day of sightseeing. The kitchen was impeccably equipped and the simple fare provided at breakfast was just right: toast (whole wheat or white?), margarine, and marmalade x 3! Peanut butter, crunchy or smooth! Sure, the instant coffee was, well, instant, but it is Blighty after all. :) I was sad to leave.
