    Avoid like the plague!!

    rating13 Sept 2026

Where to start? Twin bed room that was tiny(looks like a bigger room split in two, judging by weird shaped window) Beds were barely 2’ 6” wide, no power points by the beds, we were constantly unplugging kettle, coffee machine etc, to charge phones, tablets. The bathroom was old and tatty, black mould on grouting and around bath, cheap shower curtain. There was no slip mat for the bath which was very deep, shower was a joke.We were drawn by the fact it had parking and EV charging- another joke. The car park was always packed and it was evident from the amount of people coming down for breakfast that there would never be enough spaces if the hotel was anywhere near full. There were two charging spaces which were occupied the whole week end by petrol cars. When we complained they were obviously ready for it as the constant mantra was ‘First come, first served’. We suggested they might consider putting a chain across that could be locked, we were met by blank stares.Saturday evening we went out to an event, came back around 11pm, no spaces. We went to Reception and asked for a refund for our parking fee. We then had to crawl around surrounding streets looking for a space and praying it didn’t get vandalised. The website is a piece of pure fiction, but if you like your eardrums to bleed from the sound of aggressive or highly strung dogs- this is the place for you! Katie Peel, General Manager at Best Western Carlton Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for the feedback and please accept our sincere apologies that we did not meet your expectations. The beds are standard sized single beds and the shower curtains are hotel grade curtains, We are lucky to have a car park for the hotel with 40 spaces, most hotels don't have this luxury so just like any car park it is not guaranteed parking so we can only apologise for any inconvenience this caused during your stay, however there is plenty of street parking and also a council owned car park a short distance walk away.

Not somewhere I would stay again.

    rating12 Sept 2026

Place is in serious need of some upgrading. Rooms are dated and tatty and very tired. Bathrooms are awful with brown painted surrounds around the sink and cracked and grotty tiles with mould on the grouting. Toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and toilet paper was cheap and nasty with the cistern which wobbled when you flushed it. The room is small with very little lighting. Couldnt even see the room carpet it was so dark. Walls are all scraped with paint peeling off them. The main ligh fitting was hanging out the ceiling ans there was only one of those. Even the bar had missing paint on the walls. Didn't use the parking facilities as even though you pay for it for 24 hrs, If you move your car they will give it to someone else and you can't get another space. Katie Peel, General Manager at Best Western Carlton Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are deeply sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the condition of your room, bathroom, and our parking policy which we will take on board. We hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to correct any issues raised

    Happy returning guests

    rating11 Sept 2026

Great location close to town and transport. Bus & tram stops very close enabling you to easily visit Bispham, Cleveleys, Fleetwood, St Anne’s (kite festival a must - September) and Lytham. Lovely friendly, clean reception & lounge areas. Recommend sea view rooms (especially during lights season) which are serviced daily. Tea & coffee replenished when needed. It is dog friendly hotel (dogs cannot be left in rooms) - so very little disturbance. As returning guests we have always been made welcome by Katie Peel and her very friendly professional team. Highly recommend having self service breakfast - varied and plentiful - boiled, poached and fried eggs cooked to order so always fresh. Standard Lunch/evening menu with specials changed each day. We particularly enjoyed special pasta dishes and home made apple crumble (thanks Steve). Katie Peel, General Manager at Best Western Carlton Hotel, responded to this review Thank you so much for highlighting so many wonderful aspects of your stay and for such a great review from our easy transport links to nearby St Anne’s and Fleetwood, to our daily serviced sea-view rooms. We are so glad our dog-friendly policy worked well for you, and that you enjoyed our fresh, cooked-to-order breakfasts and daily specials including Steve's Homemade Apple crumble The team send their warmest thanks for your support, and we already look forward to your next return.
