    Excellent retreat for a weary couple

    Stayed from Sunday to Tuesday as a birthday treat. When we arrived we were greeted by a really lovely receptionist who explained everything to us. We were really impressed as never been to a spa before. The room was fantastic and the cleanest I've ever stayed in. The spa was great although a bit busier than I would have liked. We booked massages each and honestly the best one I have had in my life. I can't remember the young ladies name but she was phenomenal. The breakfast is ok however barely any fresh fruit but there are enough options to suit most - cooked breakfast, pastries and cereal. The dinner menu couldve done with some more options. We ate there one night but didn't the next as the choice was limited. Overall an excellent stay and I would recommend to everyone. The only reason I dropped a star was one afternoon when we wanted to chill in our room there was maintenance work going on above us. Not the quiet kind but lots of drilling and hammering. We called the desk at 1pm to ask when they were due to finish and was told 6pm! We were offered to move rooms but we only had that evening left so it didn't seem worth packing up and I was exhausted. They didn't offer much other apology for it and we ended up having to sit in the bar to save our headaches. It would have been nice to have been told about it so we could have planned to be out at that time or booked a treatment in. The pool was too busy to go to Don't let that experience sway you though overall it's a superb hotel and the staff are fantastic!

    Good in theory, pretty miserable in practice. We stayed here really to enjoy the pool and hot tub. Unfortunately, EVERY SINGLE TIME we tried to go swimming (morning, evening, late evening) it was so crowded there was no where to sit. The hot tub had no room and the pool was full - and not just during the kid time. Additionally, we had booked a pet friendly room (they have 2!). Upon check in, the A/C in the first room didn't work. The 2nd one did work, but not very well - we could not get the temperature to go down to a reasonable level.

    Booked a one night stay as it was convenient for the M5 on our journey.Really wish we had stayed longer and been able to make full use of the spa etc, as the whole experience from Reception to Bar Staff and breakfast next morning was amazing.I booked a lakeside room which was lovely, however as a 65 year old waiting for knee replacement its location was problematic as the only way to reach it was via two staircases, and I never travel light !Not the hotel’s fault, but wish I had known before I booked as I probably would have requested a different room type, or an accessible one - note to self……I was particularly bowled over by both the quality of food served at breakfast, and also the historic nature of the restaurant- the lady who seated us explained she thought it was originally part of a farm, perhaps a barn maybe?     Great location and the room was comfortable and clean. Lovely spa facilities which left if feeling relaxed and calm. Would definitely stay here again.
