A tired hotel in a nice quiet out of town location.

    rating03 Jun 2026

This hotel has great potential given its quiet country estate location, but sadly it is a very tired hotel that needs a significant amount of money spending on it to get it to a decent standard. The shared areas are not bad, but the rooms are very tired indeed. The only upsides I saw were a good sized car park (you are a decent way outside the city) and it was very quiet outside at night and so you could sleep with the window open. The rooms were very hot on an average summer day in the UK so I would not recommend a ground floor room so that you can sleep with your windows open. Dinner prices are at the upper end of hotels at this standard, and the food was below average with the portions and presentation poor. The Breakfast was better than usual for a hotel of this standard though. Carl Symons, General Manager at Mercure Bristol North The Grange Hotel, responded to this review Dear 190yanb,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay with us.I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed our peaceful countryside location, ample parking, and the quality of our breakfast. It is also encouraging to know that the quiet surroundings contributed to a restful night's sleep. However, I am sorry to learn that several aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We recognise that parts of the hotel are showing their age, and we appreciate your honest comments regarding the condition of the bedrooms. We are continually investing in improvements throughout the property, and feedback such as yours helps us prioritise future refurbishment plans.I was also disappointed to read your comments regarding your evening meal. We strive to provide food and service that represents good value for our guests, and I will be sharing your feedback with our kitchen team so that we can review both presentation and portion consistency.Thank you again for your balanced review. We hope that you will consider returning in the future so that we have the opportunity to provide you with a much-improved experience.Kind RegardsMohammad Tabish Alam

    Pleasant stay

    rating29 May 2026

Stayed here years ago for family wedding, not much changed, dated hotel and same set up except the staff have totally changed and actually highlighted our family stay. Saturday’s breakfast was overcrowded and very busy with the tourists also visiting breakfast. Girls at breakfast buffet were brilliant, Anastasia was swift and off her feet, her smile and helpfulness was present throughout our breakfast. Carl Symons, General Manager at Mercure Bristol North The Grange Hotel, responded to this review Dear PatGreg 79,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for choosing to stay with us again after attending a family wedding here several years ago.I appreciate your honest comments regarding the hotel's décor and understand that some areas may feel dated. We are continually looking at ways to improve our facilities while maintaining the character and charm of the property.I am, however, delighted to hear that our team made such a positive impact on your stay. It is particularly pleasing to read your kind comments about our breakfast team. Saturday mornings can be especially busy, and I am grateful for your understanding regarding the breakfast service. Anastasia will be thrilled to hear that her hard work, positivity, and helpfulness stood out during your visit. I will ensure your compliments are shared with her and the rest of the team.Thank you once again for your feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and your family back again in the future.Kind regards,Mohammad Tabish Alam

    Nice hotel

    rating28 May 2026

First time visit. Lovely hotel quiet, nice view. Room was clean and comfortable but very hot but can’t help the heatwave, dog was suffering. Team serving breakfast was superb. We stayed in the lounge with the dog. Anastasia stayed for a bit and we had a nice chat, lovely lady, very helpful. We will visit in a couple of months. Excellent value for money.

    rating23 May 2026

For a very reasonably priced room this was very nice. An old country house with mown lawns to the front which children were running around on laughing and folks were strolling with their dogs. Nicely decorated room with a window which actually opened so we had good ventilation all night on a hot day. The bathroom was old and quite tired but clean and perfectly serviceable. Bathroom products were all available. Breakfast was lovely, cold products kept on ice, very nice pastries which were light and dusted with icing sugar. The hot food looked nice although I did not try any. Lovely fruit salad too. Staff were delightful across the board. It felt well managed. Carl Symons, General Manager at Mercure Bristol North The Grange Hotel, responded to this review Dear Adele,Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated the character of the hotel, our grounds, and the welcoming atmosphere. It is lovely to know that you found your room comfortable and well ventilated, especially during the warm weather. We also appreciate your comments regarding the bathroom and are pleased that despite it feeling a little tired, you found it clean and well equipped. Your feedback is very valuable as we continue to improve our guest experience. It is fantastic to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast selection, particularly the pastries and fresh fruit salad, and that our team made such a positive impression throughout your stay. Your kind comments about the hotel feeling well managed mean a great deal to us, and I will be sure to share your feedback with the whole team.We very much hope to welcome you back again soon.Kind RegardsMohammad Tabish Alam
