  Good food, lovely staff

  The Rodney was the venue for a family wedding ceremony and also the Wedding Breakfast.Having arrived quite early, the staff were very welcoming and also helped with setting up the function room for the ceremony, assisting with bringing in flowers, etc.The staff that we saw were all very pleasant young ladies, with special mention going to the five that were mainly dealing with our event: Mia, Zenna, Ruby, Charlotte and Maisie.All a credit to the establishment.The catering for the Wedding Breakfast was very good, with the small serving staff managing to get everyone's meals out in short order so nobody was left waiting for their plate, with the food itself well prepared and presented.I didn't stay at this hotel myself but several of my family did. My mother was in a ground floor single room which was quite small but perfectly adequate for her needs as, being in her 90's, she's not particularly mobile. It featured all the usual facilities and en suite, and I heard no complaints from any of the other guests.There is a smallish bar, which overlooks the rear garden but that is only accessible via a steep staircase.From what I saw I'd be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Clifton.   Lovely, friendly hotel and restaurant. The rooms were really clean and stylish. We had a delicious breakfast at no 4, everyone was very welcoming and helpful.   I really wanted to give this a 5 as in excellent as we had a perfect stay but found just a couple of things not quite up to scratch yetThe guys on reception were flawless I cant remember their names but the one gentleman was from devon&the other one may of been named Juan saying that all of the team are a credit to your hotel The room was small but had everything we needed &I didnt find any noise really coming from facing the street i slept all night with the window open no issues at allOur only criticism after watching to many episodes of four in a bed is the bathroom is very tired ....I could tell it was spotlessly clean but the limescale build up &peeling of the fittings could be addressed .also the throw on the end of the bed was quite badly stained we just rolled it up and put it in one of the wardrobe compartment things .plus the cables hanging from under the tv could just be cable tied behind to give a more neater appearance Over all we had a super nites stay really &to me even tho iv raised those few points it really was spotless We did have breakfast &that was lovely although the coffee was only luke warm so maybe need to invest in a proper coffee machine We wouldnt hesitate to come back &thankyou for our stay Clifton Short lets, General Manager at The Rodney Hotel, responded to this review Dear Dowles1,Thank you so much for taking the time to provide such a detailed and honest review.   Small but almost perfectly formed

  We found this hotel by chance when we were looking for a two night stay in Bristol. The whole experience went very well. The hotel has 7 parking spaces outside and we were able to park our car on arrival and leave it there until we left. The hotel had taken the trouble to contact me beforehand to say that there was no lift and to check that would be all right for us. One thing we particularly liked was that Reception is manned 24 hours. The room had everything in it that was needed and the complimentary fresh fruit was appreciated. It would have been useful if there had been somewhere larger to put toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast choice was good, although it was slightly earlier than we would have normally had breakfast when on holiday. The granola bowls and fruit salad had run out on the second morning but they were replenished on request. We do like it when breakfasts are cooked fresh on order and we enjoyed our choices. It was a shame we were not there on a night when we could try the restaurant as two lots of friends who live in Bristol both told us it was very good - ah well, maybe next time! All the staff we came across were very friendly and we would certainly recommend the hotel for anyone staying in Bristol.   A lovely, warm , friendly place to stay in a perfect location in Clifton.The staff in reception and in the bar / restaurant were really attentive and friendly , the rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was absolutely delicious!It was so lovely to be able to sit in the private garden and have a drink too.
