Stay somewhere else, tired damp rooms

    rating08 May 2026

Stag were friendly and the hotel has clearly spent some money renovating the bar and break fast room. The bedroom however was another story, the room had a very strong damp/musty smell. To the point my 13 year old son said why does it smell like a haunted house in here and I struggled to sleep. Both the TV and Fridge didn’t work. The only reason we didn’t leave was that it was 10pm by the time we arrived and needed to leave at 8am for a bike race (the reason we were in Cardiff) By the time I’d paid for parking and breakfast it was £130 for 1 night, do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else! Great stay

I was staying here as part of a tour group and really enjoyed the hotel. The location is awesome and breakfast included was great. The gym is fantastic, just wish it was 24 hours. The holiday from hell

    rating24 Apr 2026

Arrived at the hotel and were immediately ignored, and almost denied entry for being under 18 ( we are both 19 nearly 20 ). We received no apology for the rude greeting but we chose to ignore it and move on.We then made our way to our not so superior queen room with the stunning (at an extra cost) panoramic view of the cracked window from ceiling to floor. We went to report it to reception who assured us that maintenance would be on their way up to check the window. So we waited for 45 minutes to no arrival of maintenance as well as finding mould which is incredibly concerning. So we returned to reception to be told maintenance weren’t actually coming, and that the mould wasn’t a shock to them. Their solution was to move us to a “room of better standard or at least the same”. This resulted in a room four floors down with the stunning panoramic views of the building next door and of the car park. As well as this we were greeted at our room by laundry and full rubbish bags just discarded by the cleaners. We then had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was lovely and the only reason they are getting their one star. We returned to our room after dinner and I went to have a shower, to find the shower floor chipped away leaving the rough concrete exposed with sharp plastic edges. So we returned to reception as the issues with the shower and the fact the room was not as described, where they resisted and resisted after the issues of the first and second room the moved us to one of their “privilege rooms” at 10:30 pm.This so called premium room was of the basic premier inn, to call it premium is a joke. Con webs, peeling paint in the bathroom, brown stains on the walls scratches and dents in the walls, it was just comical. As well as this the member of staff we spoke to through all of this (Zarna) promised us a room of the same quality at a rate of at least under what we payed (£92) for the previous night. However, when we went to arrange that the next morning we were met with resistance and told they would only give us a standard room at a rate of £214 for the night. When we turned this down and requested a refund instead the staff said they would no longer speak with us. This hotel is not worth the price or anyone’s time, awful staff, grimy, damaged and sub par rooms, horrendous customer service, pool facilities only available at extra cost. Just and all around awful experience.

    Poor Service and Unacceptable Standards

    rating18 Apr 2026

Our two‑night group stay at Holland Bay Hotel in Cardiff was far below acceptable standards. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was shockingly poor. Staff at the restaurant were particularly rude, and our concerns were met with unprofessional comments rather than support. The bedrooms were not ready at check‑in — beds were undone and towels were visibly dirty. Dinner was of very low quality, and when we asked for help, a staff member refused to take responsibility and responded rudely. This was a deeply disappointing stay, and I cannot recommend this hotel. Unacceptable

    rating12 Apr 2026

Check in was easy, greeted by cleaning products outside our room, had to actually move the hoover to gain access, luckily the room was empty. Lift can be heard all day and night coming up and down as the shaft was right behind the headboard/wall, if it stopped on the floor we was on you could hear it ping very easily. Windows were mouldy, window ledges were wet from where the water had dripped down from the glass Emily Brown, Sales at Holland House Hotel Cardiff By Sunday, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not live up to expectations. Your comments regarding the accommodation will be investigated internally.
