    I like it!

    rating11 Jun 2026

I like it! It's not often one feels impressed by modern hotel decor! Reception staff are absolutely brilliant, can't do enough for the guests. The room is the size of a small island, so much room for storage and optional pull out bed. The shower is delightful! Pressure was fab and temp good, complimentary shampoo and shower gel which aren't the worst I've ever experienced. TV was good however not a smart TV so stuck without streaming options. Wi-Fi fab, lighting and heating in the room was brilliant. Quiet at night time however in the morning, every time a guest closed their door the whole corridor of doors would rattle, luckily I was already awake. Didn't get to use the spa facilities but I found parking was a dream! Plenty of spaces to choose from even after arriving at 10pm. Hoping I don't get a fine as some reviews have stated. I would definitely come back to this cheerful and accessible location.

    Very poor experience....

    rating11 Jun 2026

We stayed 29th May to the 31st. Room was pretty clean, bathroom was nice. No air conditioning, and the fan provided was poor. Restaurant was a pretty basic menu, but very expensive for what it was. Few pubs down the road offer much more value. Bar area was very loud, and drinks slow to be served. The icing on the cake was to be told that the parking camera's were switched off at 5pm friday (We arrived at 5:30), and turned on sunday afternoon..... I then received a parking fine which they say I must pay. I appealed, but it was rejected. Truly shocking way to treat guests.Would I stay here again, No.

    Avoid if you’re vegan

    rating02 Jun 2026

No vegan options on your menu! Not one! Chef did “find” some tofu and put it in a wrap but not what you would expect in 2026!No air con in room so poor nights sleep. Cooked breakfast is barely warm under the covers and wet and soggy. Won’t be returning.

Business stay - not good enough

    rating30 May 2026

I booked the hotel for a business trip with a colleague.I was having dinner with a client. No air con on a 32 centigrade day ! I had no sleep at all.Bar area is where they serve food.Food was cheap burgers and chicken wings etc and loud music. No escape from the noise, certainly could not have dinner with my client so we took a taxi to Miller and Carter.Hot breakfast was not great, food warmers under glass lids made sure everything was soggy, sausages tasted cheap and nasty, flabby bacon, cheap bread Ashley Cruickshank, General Manager at Village Hotel Cardiff, responded to this review Dear Keven47492,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us.I am truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Very disappointing!

    rating28 May 2026

There is no aircon is the rooms, that's fine as not advertised as having it, my mistake but it was the hottest May week ever, fans were supplied but ours hardly worked. Couldn't swap it. Can't open the windows more that 2 inches as security tags on them. Extremely small bed. Pulled out the sofa bed and used them as 2 singles. No hangers in the room. No shower gel in the pump. Grotty towels. Someone had left a condom (unused, thank god!) just on the floor by desk. How housekeeping missed that I don't know. Cobwebs from top of wall lights to ceilings and above the window. Room wasn't made up on day one as we had not realised you have to put the 'please clean room' on the door by 11pm the night before??? Even though we asked housekeeping as we left for some hangers and shower gel.... Day 2 one key stopped working, had it replaced. Day 3 both keys stopped working, was asked if they had been near a phone...no. Replaced and still not working.... found a maintenance man who said the battery has gone as no lights on door entry area.... reception could have asked that question.... also because of that the room was not made up again! Had to ask for it to be done at the end of the day. Used the pool which was the nicest part of our visit. Took our grandson who has lessons there and he loved it. Unfortunately the family changing area is very small and not the cleanest. Having been in the ladies changing rooms previously, they are much better. The towels in the health suite area are much nicer then the room towels! The staff in the health suite, lifeguard, bar staff - all very nice. Shame that this hotel did not feel clean and is quite shabby. Free parking, very good. Starbucks in the morning, very good. Such a shame as very close to where my daughter lives, but won't be going back.
