    Recommended, will go back!

Stayed at Chateau La Chaire for a long weekend purchased as a Virgin Experience Package. Cannot fault the hotel. The people were lovely, the room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The spa bath was lovely, the breakfast, generous and the service was great. Dinner in the Rozel restaurant was fantastic and we would happily come back. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Extremely disappointed

    rating02 May 2026

So glad this was a deal. So disappointed, afternoon tea turned out to be one scone jam and cream and even though I had requested GF plus emailed a reminder they defrosted a scone which made it warm and soggy. Inedible. Was not expecting a full ‘tea’ but one scone , really. We had been up graded free of charge which was extremely nice gesture but the room hadn’t been used for a while was musty smelling, extremely tired with dirty windows and peeling paint. When I switched on jacuzzi algae type substance came out the jets and floated in bath , I did not use! Food at pub was ok, the waitress was wonderful. On return to hotel a lady was standing at the reception desk talking to the receptionist eating a lasagne!!! The breakup fast was nice good choices but there were cobwebs between the blind slats and black grit like dirt on the sills with the blinds being stained it just looked awful. Spent out wedding night there 37 years ago and returned every five or so years since. Sadly will not be rushing back.

    Eccentric but Lovely

    rating06 Aug 2025

We stayed here for 1 night last weekend as we wanted to be near St Catherine's We booked a lazy sunny package (we hadn't paid attention to what it included!) We didn't realise this included Afternoon Tea and Dinner ! It's a really curious place. Like others have mentioned it's really hard to contact the place in advance by phone. In fact emails were not answered either; I did wonder if the place at gone bust! I finally got a reply via Instagram! When you get there you realise what an unusual place it is. Delightful building with grand Edwardian Decor . It's run by a very small number of staff and you see very few other guests around. The portuguese lady on reception served the bar and DinnerWe loved the atmosphere at dinner but the menu was a bit strange essentially veal calf vs pork belly . The jersey scallops were very nice I had a bit of a fawlty towers moment at breakfast when I declared the Kipper was orf! Overall very unusual but very special
