The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Saint Helier, about a 5-minute drive from the town centre. The island is 14.5 km by 6.5 km, so nothing is far away. Jersey Airport is only about 7 km from the hotel.

The hotel was built in 1860. Guests have a choice of 284 non-smoking rooms located in two 5-storey buildings with lifts. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Services such as a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. Additional facilities include a TV room. The hotel is located some distance from the city centre. The terrain is fairly flat and we walked it in twenty five minutes (we are elderly), but the hotel provides a shuttle bus if you prefer to save your legs.This place is showing its age, but is still a good place to stay and we were pleased with our choice. We had a pleasant, well appointed room and a comfortable bed. We did find the room a bit chilly (the central heating was turned off), but a portable electric heater was provided on request and we were soon feeling cosy.The bathroom was definitely dated, but nice and clean.Breakfast was good, with a good selection of hot and cold dishes on offer.We had dinner in the restaurant on two consecutive nights and would not recommend it. The food was average and the prices high.

This was our second time at the hotel..The place has such a lovely feel..Room was fine..2 fans were welcome but was glad it was not hot.The food Inc Breakfast and Dinner was delicious. The Spa and gym really fabulous..The service was exceptional from Reception to Housekeeping and above all the Restaurant staff!

We had a great week at the Hotel de France. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We felt relaxed and welcome. Food was great from breakfast, dinner and room service. Air conditioning in rooms was welcome during hot weather. Would recommend.

A bit out of the centre, but adds to the tranquility of the gardens. Rooms comfortable with a/c, comfee beds, bathroom a bit tired lighting poor. Public areas bar balcony smart friendly staff. The spa and pool area superb well maintained. There is a bus at various times of the day that runs to the centre Even then the walk is not that far.

Came a few years ago but we came back simply for the outstanding customer service. Most people would think they pay the price for this hotel, for it's offer of fancy, spa retreat and quiet but we booked again simply for the great level of customer service. The staff were so lovely, eager to help and to please. We tried our best to speak to every staff member we saw as we went past them to wish them a good morning or a good day. Francis is such ad great bloke and I Hope he gets recognised for his great service, alongside all the other staff such as the lovely lady on the bar, the house keeping and the check in staff!
