  Booking Ref: 28027019 - I booked a fmaily room for 4 people, I have 1 adult child and a 14 yr old. The room advertised as a 4 person occupancy which suits us however after I booked the confirmation arrived with only 2 people. When I rang to enquire they suggested there was an issue because one of my children was an adult and the other not. I asked if they discriminated against families when booking a room for 4 people which of course they said they didn't. After a wait on hold I was told it was all sorted my kids had been added and a confirmation email would be sent. A few moments later I received a confirmation that the room was now booked for 3 adults only and £50 charge had been added. Seriously? Room cancleed, IHG to be avopided in future, I've booked over the road at the Delta, no issues! This was for our Feature bedroom that can sleep up to 4 people. Approximately 20 minutes later, you contacted the hotel directly to amend the reservation to include 3 adults and 1 child. As this changed the occupancy details of the booking, the reservation was repriced in line with the updated room requirements and occupancy policy.I appreciate that the revised rate was not what you expected, and I understand your frustration. However, the additional charge was not related to discrimination against families, but rather the amendment made to the original reservation after it had been created.Following the rate change, the reservation was cancelled at your request approximately 15 minutes later. We regret that we were unable to meet your expectations on this occasion.We value all guests and welcome families to our hotel. We also appreciate your comments, as they help us identify opportunities to improve how booking amendments and rate changes are communicated.Many thanks

  A Stunning Historic Hotel for a Special Occasion

  We stayed at Hotel Indigo for our wedding night in one of the premium rooms, and it was perfect for such a special occasion. The room itself was fantastic, with plenty of space and a beautiful freestanding bath. What really makes this hotel stand out is its history and original features. Rather than feeling like a standard hotel room, it feels like a thoughtful and sensitive conversion of a historic building. The character and charm made our stay very memorable.The staff were all exceptional and played a huge part in making our experience so good. I would highly recommend Hotel Indigo for a special occasion or simply for anyone looking for a unique hotel experience with outstanding service.   We had an amazing night at the hotel Indigo Durham. The Hotel is beautiful, spotlessly clean and had a lovely atmosphere. I had a cathedral view room with a huge bed. It was very quiet even though there was a wedding happening. The food was outstanding but our server Lyndsey was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything in we needed and as a group of 7 people we certainly kept her busy. Nothing was too much trouble for her, Absolute 5 star service.   Excellent Hotel in a great location

  We stayed here for a couple of nights and it was a brilliant location to explore Durham. We found the hotel easily and check-in was quick and simple - they were just friendly and efficient and although we were a little early they just checked us in. The room was large and well set out with a big bathroom and powerful shower. The hotel is fascinating - an old building which retains lots of character - panelling, stained glass windows and stonewalls. We used the cafe a couple of times and had breakfast each day. The staff at breakfast were all really helpful and pleasant and the food was excellent.Brilliant hotel in a great location.   This place was amazing.

  I won a competition for this hotel, so our stay was complimentary apart from parking, food and drinks which we paid for ourselves. We arrived around 12pm even though check-in was 3pm because I’d read reviews saying the car park fills up quickly. We were planning to park and head into Durham, but when I mentioned we’d arrived, the receptionist told us we’d been upgraded to a Premium King room and it was ready straight away. Checking in 3 hours early was an amazing surprise.The staff treated you like royalty. Every member of staff we saw, from reception to cleaners and maintenance, greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcome. The room was spotless and smelled lovely when we walked in. We stayed in room 321 which had a small lobby area and was really well insulated from hallway and road noise.The bed was very comfortable and there were different pillow options (although nothing quite beats your own pillow 😅). The rain shower felt amazing, there was a huge TV and plenty of complimentary drinks and biscuits too.We ate out in Durham and honestly regret not having our main meal at the hotel. We came back for dessert and drinks and the desserts were on another level, while the food we saw being served looked Michelin-star quality. We’d definitely stay with Hotel Indigo again.
