When the door was eventually answered, the receptionist was courteous enough yet scruffy, if not grubby. Room cramped, uncomfortable yet clean. Public rooms, reception and stair well tatty and dingy. Attention to detail lacking in room preparation, receptionist found the tv remote under the bed….. tea etc not replenished and most of the furniture looks home made, the bed is! WiFi connected, but very poor. Not a useful part of town for coffee shops/restaurants/shops. Adelphi hotel, General Manager at Adelphi Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for your review. As advertised, Adelphi is a basic, budget-friendly small Hotel that provides good value for this type of accommodation in Edinburgh. We do not offer luxury or 3-star amenities; we only advertise a basic room with a private bathroom. You have booked one of the budget hotels in the City with an en-suite bathroom. The small hotel is basic; we advertise it as a basic, small property. The property is in Leith, Edinburgh's port area, with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.

    Highly hyped and overpriced

Hotel is over priced and doesn't provide services which it charges. Highly overhyped about its quality of bathrooms, rooms. room height to the ceiling. It doesn't have reception, room service, no lift. Adelphi hotel, General Manager at Adelphi Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for your review. Reception operates daily between 2 pm and 10 pm, and in case of emergencies, the staff are always in the building.

    Awful

Awful. Avoid. Definitely more hostel than hotel. Re-branding may help to avoid guests confusion. It was cheap and it showed.I have never been asked for my passport or photo ID before in the UK.It does not do breakfasts, nor has a bar.Why does it put a double bed in a single room? It makes it very cramped when a single bed would open up a lot of space. The bathroom is snug but everything works well. The heating comes on and off as regulated by the hotel's timer. OK for me but could be very cold at night in the winter. Adelphi hotel, General Manager at Adelphi Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to review the property. We are a small, budget-type hotel in the city's port area of Edinburgh ( Port of Leith). We do not serve breakfast, nor do we have a restaurant or a bar on-site. During the winter, we keep the heating on longer for extra comfort.

    Awful

The hotel room we were given was a good size and the location is excellent right by a park and the tram service is near by however that's where the good bits end, we were in room 1 and the room on entrance was clean ISH, the room had a double bed and a set of bunk beds in it, the floors all creeked loudly every step so struggled to move about without disturbing others, the bed was comfy but creaked very loudly every move (rolling to side to back and back to side) waking my wife every time, the bunk beds were in very poor repair missing bracing and if kids were to use them would probably collapse because of how much they move, the ensuite bathroom has steps in it the toilet is on a different level again a step up to it and above the toilet a small window faced the block behind there was no frosting or covering of the window so would be flashing any passer buys, the sink is very noisy and the plumbing of the sink lead to the shower drain causing bubble up to the shower tray, the room next to us there bathroom is in our room (thin stud wall) so could hear everything and I do mean every drip and plop grunt and moan wipe and even the loo paper tear, check in 3pm check out 10am however we were rudly woken by drilling banging and sawing above us at 8am on the dot! No one at reception to complain to. Not recommended won't be back poor sleep due to bed noise and building work. Adelphi hotel, General Manager at Adelphi Hotel, responded to this review We are happy you enjoyed our great location and the size of the room, we are sorry about the maintenance noise from our maintenance team. We are renovating some rooms in the hotel at the moment.
