    Boutique but unpretentious hotel in a gorgeous location!

    I had been to this spot years ago when it was under a different ownership. What a change! Travelling solo visiting friends, this place was perfect. Suite lovely area of Edinburgh, amazing service, gorgeous food and drinks with lots of choice. Room was small but perfectly formed with real attention to detail. Boutique, but not pretentious in any way and really felt welcomed. Thank you All 💙

    Clean and comfortable and the staff was wonderful and welcoming. They were all very personable and went out of their way to make sure everything was right for us. Only concern was the lack of an elevator if someone had mobility issues and had a room on an upper floor.

    Very enjoyable three night stay in this fabulous hotel.The hotel decor is stylish throughout - Christmas decorations are flamboyantly fabulous.Menus offer a very good selection for both breakfast and evening meals - the quality excellent as was the service.We had huge respect for the hardworking hotel team as the service supplied was exceptional.We would like to thank Anna in particuar for amending our booking due to a bereavement. Her thoughtful, kind and considerate response truly touched us - she undoubtedly is a very valued team member.In addition we would like to mention Forbes as he too is a super staff member.

    Nice rooms in an excellent location overlooking the park, Bruntsfield Links. However, the rooms at the front (including mine) are very likely to be blighted by noise from the large bar, restaurant and event operation below, including an open terrace. The rooms are on the first and second floor, and don't have double glazing. The bar also stays open to 1am. One night in particular was marred by noise from a huge group into the early hours. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, but they cannot make up for the noise issue.

    Yes, the room was lovely, comfortable, and clean. And the breakfasts were superb. And the location was wonderful - a beautiful walk from Grassmarket on bicycle paths. But the personal attention they gave us - on my 70th birthday made that day, for me, one of the most special in my life. The concierge remembered my birthday every time we entered the building, gave me a free dinner, and chocolate brownie dessert, with a candle. No one asked them to do ANY OF THIS. I would highly recommend The Black Ivy as they made us feel so welcome and uniquely special. I can not thank them enough for our incredible visit there!!!!!!
