Location

This hotel lies on Rothesay Terrace in Edinburgh's West End, one of the most sought after residential areas in the city. The financial district and main shopping area are situated close by and many of the most popular sights are within walking distance. Princess Street Garden is 20 minutes walk away, nightclubs are a short 10-minute walk from the hotel, and St. Andrews and Haymarket station are 10 minutes and 5 minutes from the hotel respectively. Despite the central location, this city hotel affords a peaceful atmosphere.

Facility

The resort has 29 rooms, including 9 single rooms, which are located on 5 storeys and are reachable by lift. English- and German-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The resort has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Everyday necessities can be purchased at the supermarket. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Further services and facilities include a babysitting service, a childcare service, room service and a laundry service.     The property is located in a truly beautiful part of the city; neither in the middle of the hustle nor far from the center. The location strikes a perfect balance. The building itself is lovely, and we had a wonderful and comfortable stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we genuinely felt at home throughout our visit.     We had an email before arriving saying that the lift was out of action, and that help would be provided getting luggage to the suite. Not only did we get no help up the two flights of stairs with our luggage, the receptionist waited until I had moved my car from the front of the resort to the carpark behind to give me a parking permit, meaning that I had to go down and back up another two flights of stairs unnecessarily. On checkout, again no help was available taking our bags to the car, the route to which was blocked twice by workmen on ladders, including the exit to the car park. Why you would schedule work there at check out time I have no idea. After this, the bill was £30 more than expected for parking. I have stayed here twice previously and have never been charged for parking. I raised this and the issues caused by the lifts not working, and was told that they couldn't remove it as it is a city tax, which isn't true. The suites are lovely, but the service was poor on this visit, and lying to customers really isn't good practice imo. Making you walk those stairs a second time was a lapse in common sense and basic hospitality.Scheduling maintenance work that blocks primary exits during the peak checkout window was a significant oversight. We have adjusted our maintenance protocols to ensure that high-traffic areas remain clear during these times to avoid the "obstacle course" experience you described.While some regions do have a "City Tax," our parking fee is an internal charge, not a government-mandated tax. It is concerning that you were told otherwise, and I apologise for this misinformation. We value honesty above all else, and I will be sitting down with the staff member involved to ensure this does not happen again.We appreciate your loyalty and your candor.     We had a wonderful stay at Hapimag Edinburgh. The suite was very nice and comfortable, offering a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The location is great—peaceful yet not far from the city centre, making it easy to explore Edinburgh. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
