Handy, cheap, ruff round the edges.

Good Location for traveling into Edinburgh without paying Edinburgh hotel prices. X28 bus takes you to Edinburgh in 1 hour every 20 mins day and night.Hotel is old, but clean.Check in staff were lovely and helpful. We added breakfast for £12 pp, but it was honestly the worst breakfast i have had in a hotel ever.Bacon looks like Gammon, no colour and looks raw. Beans were more like Tomato soup. No hash browns, no scrambled eggs.Save your money and go to Asda over the road.Check out staff could not care less, just put the card in box, no how was your stay?Would i cone back?Yes as it’s cheaper than Edinburgh and that would be the only reason. Dissapointing experience

    rating29 May 2026

The room is very outdated and in need of a complete renovation. However, what shocked me the most was the bar.The cocktail did not resemble a real cocktail at all. It was served in a small champagne glass and cost £7. The "Tequila Sunrise" tasted more like juice, with virtually no alcohol in it.I have never had a worse cocktail in my life.I went to the reception desk to express my dissatisfaction, but received no response whatsoever. They simply do not care about their guests' complaints.I definitely will not be coming back. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Catherine Smith, at Mercure Livingston Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Mercure Livingston Hotel. Good value stay with friendly staff and a great breakfast

    rating24 May 2026

I stayed at Mercure Livingston with my 12-year-old, and overall we enjoyed our stay. There were a couple of disappointing points. I did not receive the expected amenities, and unfortunately I missed my train due to poor performance and delays at reception. That did affect the experience at the time. However, aside from that, the stay itself was good. The hotel is a little dated in places, but the price reflected the level of accommodation, so it still felt fair value. I did receive my welcome drink, which was appreciated. The staff overall were friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was great, with a good atmosphere and helpful breakfast staff. For the price, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay for me and my child. With a little improvement at reception and more consistency around loyalty benefits, this could be an even better experience. Catherine Smith, General Manager at Mercure Livingston Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thankyou for your feedback regarding your recent stay. We regret to hear about the issues you encountered with the lack of facilities and the delay to your departure. Overall we are pleased that you found the team to be friendly and welcoming and that you both enjoyed your breakfast. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.RegardsMercure Livingston Hotel

    Grateful for the care

    rating21 May 2026

Very impressed with the care of the staff. I am very deeply celiac and from the moment of checking in for a table they asked about my allergy and alerted the kitchen staff. Our stress was Olivia and she was extremely attentive and personable. Catherine Smith, General Manager at Mercure Livingston Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thankyou for your lovely feedback, I'm sure that Olivia in particular will be thrilled to learn that you felt taken care of and enjoyed the food prepared for you knowing it was compatible with your allergy. We look forward to seeing you return in the future.RegardsMercure Livingston Hotel
