  Great Location and Wonderful Host

  Sherwood Guest House is in a great location with a wonderful host, Vivienne, who makes you feel right at home. She provides a detailed book with any and all information needed, with everything from bus routes (conveniently close by) to restaurant recommendations to the nearest laundry facilities. She is onsite and happily answered my questions and gave me great advice, such as walking by the Meadows my first trip into town. My room had a mini-fridge, a microwave, and an electric tea kettle with tea/coffee. There was cold water and milk for the tea/coffee in the fridge, and in my wardrobe a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. The location is amazing! I walked to Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat, The Meadows was right around the corner, and High Street was a straight walk down Minto. Each day I walked out the door, took a left on the sidewalk, and it was a straight route to High Street. I felt like a local rather than a tourist, and as a solo female traveler, I felt safe in that I did not have to take my phone or a map out for directions to my destinations. There are many restaurants to choose from nearby, and it is also close to the university. I took a cab from the train station when I arrived because I had a large suitcase, but could have easily walked had I taken lighter luggage. Guests have their own entrance and the provided breakfast was perfect! I cannot wait to return to Edinburgh and will stay here again. I stayed in hotels in London and Dublin while on this journey and Sherwood GH outshined them both thanks to Vivienne’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

  Fantastic stay in a perfectly located guest house

  Wonderful stay! The location is incredibly convenient to explore Edinburgh by foot but also in a nice quiet ore local part of time away from intense foot traffic. Valereigh is the perfect host and the house is incredibly comfortable and clean. The showers are also really fantastic.   Perfect Accommodation for your trip to Edinburgh

  Sherwood guest house is the perfect place to stay when visiting Edinburgh! It’s super close to the city centre with good public transport connections. The guesthouse is super lovely and the rooms are perfect for a city trip. Everything is clean and thoughtfully furnished. The highlight is the owner/hostess Vivienne.   Lovely, warm place with good attention to detail

  Excellent location right near multiple busses. The host is warm and welcoming and breakfast is delicious. She even accommodated our need to leave early twice. The resource book provided is useful and comprehensive. The cleanliness is amazing (and the housekeeper kept re-folding my husband’s pjs!) Be aware that some rooms are quite small, but they have all the necessary amenities. The staircase curves and is just a little tricky to navigate, especially because the plaid carpet plays tricks with bifocals. No real place to sit though except two small chairs by the stairs—the addition of a light near them would allow better usage.Overall, we loved it and think you will too Vivienne Pritchett, Owner at Sherwood Guest House, responded to this review Thank you Ellen for your kind words and comments.   This is a lovely and inviting guest house. Our room was lovely, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was a perfect start to the day. The location was perfect.
