    Outlander, Kelpies & The Wheel

    rating01 Jun 2026

Ideally located for visiting multiple Outlander locations; Culross, Blackness, Linlithgow, Hopetoun House & Lalybroch all within 30minutes drive and Falkland, about an hour away! Dunfermline & South Queensferry also worth a visit whilst doing this day trip by road. The Kelpies are only 15 minutes walk so ideal for an evening visit to see them illuminated, Fabulous! All roads in Falkirk seem to be signposted to The Wheel. It's a fantastic piece on engineering but in reality nowadays it's just a tourist attraction with an underwhelming and expensive boat trip cum white (???) knuckle ride and a playpark. The hotel itself is good. We had an 'executive' room in the original building. A good sized room with high ceilings and large windows, comfy bed and modernish bathroom. The wooden sash windows could do with a lick of paint and the three broken floor tiles in the bathroom should be replaced before somebody gets a cut on their foot!Breakfast in Rosie's Tearoom was a bit disappointing. Not much choice other than standard Cooked Breakfast fayre. We ate two nights in Cook's which was good both times. Excellent service and food. It's was busy though, so best to book a table here as there aren't may alternative options locally.

    Great Experience

    rating12 Apr 2026

We only stayed one night so we could experience the Kelpies in the day and also in the dark ( Kelpies easy walking distance)The hotel was very nice we had the most amazing room. We ate in Cooks which whilst it’s not fine dining the food we had was very good. The staff worked hard especially the guy behind the bar, reception, waiting on tables in the restaurant ,that was what we could see heaven knows what he also does behind the scenes (sorry didn’t get your name …we should have) Breakfast was nice, would have liked a little more choice on the hot food and found that it was slightly timed wrong, we noticed the people that had chosen to have a cereal/fruit start were still eating it when the hot breakfast came out. But all in all a good experience and would recommend. Lynsey MacDiarmid, General Manager at The Grange Manor, responded to this review Good Morning @april2007 - many thanks for your lovely review, I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with usWe are ideally located for the Kelpies, only a 10 minute walk and they are beautiful to see both in the day time and in the evening when they are lit upWe are a small team so most people do a little of everything but I think you would have met Archie, I will make sure to pass your kind comments onto himLook forward to welcoming you back in the futureLynsey

    Lovely Aternoon Tea

    rating29 Mar 2026

We received an Afternoon Tea voucher for 2 as a Christmas present. We phoned before our visit and booked our daughter in too.We had a lovely visit. We had pot of tea , sandwiches which had coronation chicken, egg mayo and ham, sausage rolls, and a variety of cakes. The cream with the scones were amazing. Very accommodating with my daughter and made her sandwiches of her choice. Only downside was would have liked some more tea but nobody there to ask. Im sure if I had asked would have been fine. We will definitely do this again if we had a voucher. Staff were lovely. Thank you for making it a lovely afternoon. Lynsey MacDiarmid, General Manager at The Grange Manor, responded to this review Thank you for your review @W8512KTmoiram, our Chef has just updated the afternoon tea offer so I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed it, whilst we usually provide a selection of fillings, the kitchen team are always happy to accommodate dietary or preferences where they canAn afternoon tea voucher is a great Christmas gift, and we do sell them throughout the year for other occasions, always a nice treat to spend the afternoon eating cakes and drinking tea!Hope that we see you again in the futureLynsey
