    Ok but…..

    rating22 May 2026

Ok Hostel .Reasonably cheap price for two Nights stay. Comfy bed, good kitchen and social room. Very near to Haymarket Station and a 15 minute walk to Princes Street. Now the bad bits . This is not really the Hostels fault but someone in my room took my door entrance card. No one owned up!. This caused me stress but the Hostel did give me another card.Moral of story is to protect your personal items and also make use of the Lockers available. You don’t know who you are sharing with.Ruth

    Excellent

Very good place to stay for a weekend for a solo traveler or a group of friends. Great location, very clean, plenty of options to eat nearby. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Rayna was at the reception when I got in late on a Friday night and she got up from dinner to check me in and show me to my bunk and other facilities and explain the rules. I had forgotten my adapter for the UK socket and Rayna and Sarah were very helpful in allowing me to charge my phone at the reception and it was very secure.Loved the hostel and the staff with whom I had great conversations. Bathroom was nice with warm water and despite the hostel being full, with multiple bathrooms and toilets, one did not have to wait in lines.

    Cheap friendly and basic

    rating30 Aug 2023

I say basic but there were some unexpected extras and there has been money spent on this place but maybe not so recently. The overall athmosphere is friendly and relaxed with a lounge space that supports that with sofas, tv/ books and games,. The staff i noticed went out of their way to show new people around individually at check in and explain the rules and facilities. There was a very small kitchen open late evening but not early morning. Enough to heat up a basic meal so could eat more cheaply out of supermarkets, although plenty of take aways locally too. Washing facilities also limited, at least 2 dorms, one of which slept 12 people, shared 3 showers 3 toilet cubicles( 2 with a sink in it) and 1 extra sink. No facilities for washing clothes but there is a laundry service offered when the hostel has the capacity. A hairdryer in common area.Dorm was full, 12 bunks, plugs for phone charging but not by the beds, and no storage in the dorm so stuff everywhere, unavoidably really for those travelling for longer periods. Beds had seen some service but not uncomfortable? Bedding clearly used but clean and not threadbare.Garden nice, and not just for smokers. Comfortable sturdy tables and chairs for all with smokers in one area only.Overall, cheap and basic but with extra features that made it a nice place to stay not just a cheap place to sleep

    A hostel for grown ups

    rating10 Aug 2023

The is a hostel for grown ups. If you want a fake smile, a saccharine “hello” and someone to provide you with a self-affirming pat on the head, you should look elsewhere. The hostel is a hostel. You sleep in a dorm. The people are other travellers used to travelling. You need to follow some basic rules designed to make the stay comfortable for all. The accommodation is cheap and so you should expect it to be budget! I really liked the other people here and appreciated the “if you don’t like it: tough” rigour of the place. That said, one small criticism is I don’t think excluding new arrivals from the ‘reception’ area in the evenings is a bit unnecessary and does create a “them and us” atmosphere. I didn’t care because I went out but I can see how some people would.
