Location

This pleasant university complex is located in an ideal position from which to explore the fascinating city, and itself affords outstanding views over the historic Arthur's Seat volcano. The Royal Mile, the Scottish Parliament, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse are all nearby the complex. A range of bars, pubs, and links to the public transport network can be reached in around 500 m, shops and nightclubs in 1 km, and the city centre and railway station in 3 km. Edinburgh airport lies 12 km from the complex.

Facility

123 double rooms are available to guests in a 4-storey main building and 10 auxiliary buildings. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a cash machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a newspaper stand. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. Active guests can make use of the bicycle hire service to explore the surrounding area. 18 conference rooms are available for lectures, presentations and meetings.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with individually adjustable heating. All rooms are carpeted and include a queen-sized bed and a sofa bed. A safe and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator, a microwave and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a TV and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. A hairdryer and a telephone are available in the bathrooms, which are equipped with a shower. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. The hotel has family rooms and 123 non-smoking rooms.

The sports and entertainment facilities at the hotel ensure that guests have plenty of activities to choose from during their stay. The outdoor pool complex provides invigorating refreshment.

Meals

Dining facilities include a café and a bar. Guests can enjoy their meals in the cosy atmosphere of the 2 restaurants, which are equipped with high chairs. Bed and breakfast can be booked. At breakfast (continental), lunch, and dinner, guests serve themselves at the lavish buffet or order a set menu (for lunch).

    A Scholar of an Experience!

    We stayed here overnight and our room was not ready until dead on check-in. Excellent location, modern and airy venue and rooms. Staff were a mixture of various nationalities. Breakfast was superb! Only minor issue breakfast was quite chaotic probably due to numbers! Worth a visit. They intend to provide music sessions too in the summer within the outdoor area, which is very pleasant.     Hidden gem amongst Pollock Halls.

    This is our second visit to this lovely hotel. It is a hidden gem. The staff are efficient & friendly. The bedrooms have been fresh, clean and welcoming. A lovely & very welcome tray treat of gin, tonics, chocolate & my favourite crunchy bar snacks were waiting for us on the most recent visit. The breakfast is exceptional, Easter Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious. We will be booking again soon.     Lovely and clean rooms and public areas, kind and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Close to bus routes for getting in and out of town. Nice to be in a quieter part of town, but with easy access to the old and new towns.     Our work Christmas dinner was held in the restaurant Abacus so I stayed overnight to make the most of the evening. The hotel is recently refurbished and very well maintained - very clean throughout. BedroomVery spacious, comfortable and stylish. Had a great night's sleep in the enormous bed. En suite is also very generous with a rainfall shower. Loved the toiletries too - Laura Thomas, I think.RestaurantA complete highlight! Abacus had only opened that month and was already a well oiled machine. Food at work Christmas events is often mediocre at best - NOT at Abacus. Fantastic menu and the service was spot on.
