    Gave my room away

    rating31 May 2026

Flew from Bristol with two young children for a long weekend in Edinburgh, when we arrived (at about 5pm) our family room had been given away to someone else due to an error. I was presented with the choice of leaving my Children in a seperate room, unattended overnight, or staying in another hotel. Unfortunately a 'free breakfast' doesn't really make up for the stress of moving to a different hotel outside of the city centre and the expense of having to get Taxi's in and out of the city each day to attend what we had planned.

    Ok hotel

    rating31 May 2026

Close to Haymarket station and the airport bus. 25-minute walk to the castle. Check-in was efficient. We had a lower ground floor room that faced the street. It was quiet and the room was large. One window opened partially. The bathroom floor is very slippery when wet, and there is no bathmat.Breakfast was a typical cooked or with cereal. It was ok. Check out was efficient. The hotel was ok, and represents a cheaper option in Edinburgh. We may stay again, but would try to not be on lower ground and hopefully have a less hazardous bathroom.

    Just what I needed

    rating22 May 2026

On my way back from Inverness I stopped off for 3 nights in Edinburgh & this hotel was ideal. It is well positioned for travelling around the city - either walking, bus or train to Waverley. Added an extra night as it was so convenient. My first Travelodge stay & I found it good. Clean and comfortable. Good long breakfast window.

Basic accommodation a distance from the city centre, close to tram stop

    rating15 May 2026

We booked last minute for a one night stay. Location is good, tram/ bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the hotel so easy to get to and from the airport. It is not in the city centre but easy to get to by tram or we walked which is a great way to see parts of the city and the amazing terraces of houses you wouldn’t otherwise see. The travel lodge is in a old building which adds character, high ceilings and large windows however some may not like this as the floor boards squeak and the doors slam so if you are a light sleeper it may not be for you. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot but not very powerful. We were able to leave one bag as we arrived early and left later in the day. Our room only had a small electric wall heater and the room didn’t feel warm in May so unless they provide an additional heater in the winter the room may be cold. The room is basic as a travel lodge is, towels and toilet roll were thin and we didn’t have a bath mat to step on to. We haven’t stayed in a travel lodge for a while and there is a notable difference between a travel lodge and a premier inn. We didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment on that.We only stayed for one night and it was fine for what we needed and is basic accommodation but this which is what a travel lodge is. If you want a little more luxury and to be closer to the city centre this hotel is not for you, however if you are only staying for one night and are happy to walk or get the tram this hotel is fine.

    Very noisy

    rating29 Apr 2026

I was put in basement room for 3 nights. It wasn't cheap. The floor above creaked loudly if anyone moved in the room above. They went to bed at 12.30am and got up at 4.45am and moved around for an hour before leaving. I asked to be moved and the manager was helpful but my second room was right next to the lift. Never again!
